Ojo is off to Wigan on loan. Good experience for him, but clubs in relegation scraps tend not bestow much love on their loanees unless they have the talent of Messi. Pretty excellent loan for a 17 year old though.

Jones extends Cheltenham loan deal

Liverpool Football Club can confirm Lloyd Jones has extended his loan deal with Cheltenham Town.

The 19-year-old initially moved to the League Two club on a temporary basis at the start of January, along with fellow Reds Academy starlets Kevin Stewart and Jack Dunn.

Jones has today completed paperwork to prolong his spell at Whaddon Road.

The defender has made five appearances so far for the Robins, operating at centre-back and right-back.

Dunn and Stewart have been recalled by Liverpool after picking up injuries.

Let's hope it's a "Youth Loan" so he can still play in the UEFA Youth Cup for us.

Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Academy winger Sheyi Ojo has joined Wigan Athletic on loan.

The 17-year-old has agreed a temporary switch to the Championship club in order to gain some senior experience.

Ojo joined the Reds' Academy from MK Dons in 2011. He is yet to make his first-team debut, but was named on the bench by Brendan Rodgers for fixtures with Burnley and Leicester City over the Festive period.

The winger is also a regular in Liverpool's U21 squad.

It's been a very quiet window overall. The only two big signings I can think of are Bony to City and Cuadrado to Chelsea.

Yeah I know. I've advocated us going for Schurrle ever since his Mainz days (because you know, when I get something right, I have to repeat it as often as possible). Would have been a very good signing for us and to me it feels like a bit of a waste that the guy who gave the assist for the world cup winning goal is going to Wolfsburg.

Hahah indeed. He was more of an out-and-out striker at Mainz IIRC but became a LWF at Leverkusen.

Tbf Wolfsburg are quietly becoming the next big money club. Volkswagon have been steadily pumping money into them at an increased rate for the last few years and they've been gathering quite a few good players.

They don't f>>k around, they identify top targets, pay what they're worth, don't mess around trying to haggle and let others clubs come in gazump them and they always seem to move unwanted players on for decent money or at a profit (see Schurlle, Luiz, Mata, Lukaku, De Bruyne). Salah is the only deal I can think of for them that hasn't worked out for them in a while that I can think of, you look at Costa, Fabregas, Cuadrado, Phillipe Luis, Matic coming in.

Chelsea paid 24m for Lukaku and sold him for 28m so only a small profit (still a profit none the less though). Everton apparently could only pay the 28m in 2-3 installments too.

I still maintain there must be something dodgy with that deal. Money coming back from Abramovich - essentially a con to get Chelsea ahead on FFP. (I.e. PSG pays Chelsea 50mil, Abramovich gives PSGs owners 20mil back, through sponsors or other underhanded means).

There is just no way that anyone could value Luiz at that price.

On that note - Salah is off to Italy..!
