Paul Doyle wrote an absolute dog turd of an article today about how we should have made him captain instead of selling him.

      http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/jun/29/liverpool-raheem-sterling-jordan-henderson-captain

For a start, Rooney had already been a regular fixture, scoring left right and centre in the league and CL for united for years before he was given the captaincy. Secondly, Rooney behaved like a petulant child, but nothing to the degree of disrespecting the club so heavily as Sterling did. He simply behaved like Luis in making his ambitions be known to be somewhere else. Not saying it was right, but it's not as bad as what Raheem has done. And thirdly, Raheem hasn't shown any of the leadership skills to be a captain, combined with his age, it's a nonsense suggestion from an attention seeking journo.

Paul Doyle, keep smoking crack and fo.

      saw that this morning
I didnt' know if I would cry or laugh
Yes we should have made him captain with a 900K x wk

sometimes I don't know what thiese supposed jounos come out with such "stupid'  ideas

Whilst I may have reservations about why a kid like this wouldn't see his future with us I must admit I'm rather sick of the sight of him after his antics.

Get the cash and get him away from the club........or get him a new agent!

if someone wrote a story about how sterling should be made captain, they shouldn't be linked to so their article gets clicks. if anything a bunch of fans should get together and go kill him. we can't have our club dragged down by these cretins any more. please someone kill that guy.

are city going to give us this 50milly or what!! what is the bloody hold up! you either want him enough to give us 50mil CASH or you dont. We best not agree for installments/add ons whatever you want to call it nothing short of 50mil cash i think. I think they will wait tilll BR is back to have one last chat with him to try and sort his head out to the fact that he gets games here and wont get as  many at city if he's not performing. to be honest we now have Origi and ibe who will compete for his place and markovich if he's staying around

If he doesn't go for £50mill, anywhere, drop him to the reserves. Don't give a toss now, never want to see him in a Liverpool shirt again to be honest.

Thats basically just cutting our noses off

Did we do the same when Suarez stated his desire to leave ?

If he stays then he should be part of a very exciting forward line up and we wont have to rely on him as much as last season.

It might even help him change his mind.

He is a very talented player.

Kind of thinking he might stay now.

Which means we'll probably see him sold tomorrow ;D

If he stayed and even if we got a Benteke it would be game on.

FFS we need to keep him...

I'm shocked by his behavior and extremely disappointed in him but he is a young man and fences can still be mended.

One fruitful campaign can make all the difference...

Agree with this, but I'd still stick him on the bench for a month or two. Might sort his head out - don't bite the hand that feeds you and all that.

If he is not sold and he shows a positive attitude in training (i.e. wants to be a winner) by all means put him in the match team. If he does not want to be a winner at Liverpool don't even pick him as a bench player. It is entirely up to Raheem Sterling what happens with his footballing future at L.F.C. the ball is in his court.

Sadly I'm not sure that's the case - our clever business this window might depend on the money raised by Raheem's sale. FFP and all that.

Thinking the same thing myself, if we are planning on buying Benteke for 32 million, Raheem will need to be sold to fund it.

Still no news, i wonder if he's having a change of heart i would much prefer FSG to stick to their guns scrap buying another striker and make him stay and sign new deal

Can't wait for Sterling not to be sold, we use the money raised for him anyway, get hit with a FFP fine and then watch people the same people complain about lack of spending complain about how we spent too much money  :f_tongueincheek:

In all seriousness though we need to stick at 50million and not a penny less here.

FFP has been relaxed this year and to be honest we've so far not spent more than what we can afford, with the sales of Borini, lambert, coates, aspas, alberto and probably one of our midfielders and possibly a defender we will be fine even if we go out and spend another 25mil on a striker.

keep sterling make him sign a new deal with bigger release clause and sell next summer like we did with Suarez, who we all bum over but lets not forget he asked to be let go and play for Arsenal also
