Maybe Rodgers has one eye on the Europa game?.

He's either going to be hailed as a tactical genius or totally naive.

This is almost akin to the Real and Chelski scenario we had in November.

I think this game is more important than the Europa League one.

At least there we could lose and still go through, if we lose tonight, our chances for top 4 will plummet.

Not really convinced by the line up... this always happens when we have a tight schedule (back when we have those Champion League fixture with Madrid) , Brendan seems to put a 'not so ...' team between the tight fixtures....

We put so many draw results without Stu this season, and now we are against one of the best team defensively.


For this post, I hope someone will put me to shame after the match.

No. From what he said, no way.

Surprised we haven't gone all out full strength for this one. This will either detract or enhance BR's tactical nous.
 Just hope we cane grind out a win. How many times in the past have we missed opportunities like this. Hope we can bring that to an end today. Still going for a 2 - 1 win to us, but perhaps we will need a bit of luck on our side today as well. Hope Lovren does the business today, and Hendo does a decent job in the middle, and doesn't do one of his headless chicken acts.

He barely ever starts Balo. He's said that it would have been Sturridge's third game in a week and wants to rest him for a majority of the game with him coming back from injury.

Does seem odd that he prioritised a first leg game against Besiktas versus an away game at Southampton in terms of Sturridge.  Makes you wonder how much forward planning is being involved.

Also for the people who doesn't know Djuricic. He was awesome in Holland, he played a bit like Cruijf. I don't know how he has devenloped in Lissabon, so I don't know if he still has quality.
