Summer Transfers IN/OUT

right i'll kick this off with who we should get in and out appologies for the price i've not got a clue about what we would get or pay for certain players as we always over pay and under sell.

Would definitely hold on to Lucas mate he has been brilliant this season. With the combative midfield role he plays he will pick up knocks now and again but he seems to be back to his pre knee injury level now.

The rest I would be happy to sell or let go. I would even add Lovren to your list if he doesn't improve.

I would love Lacazette as a replacement for Balotelli as he would fit our style like a glove. Ings will be fine as a 4th choice striker. I would also snap the Bitters hand off for Barkey for under £20 million as I think Rodgers could do wonders with him much like he has done with Hendo. That being said I would rather go for Pjanic for £30 million as he is pure class.

Ross Barkley? Ross Barkley? Wash your mouth with soap young lad.

First off, its far too early to be talking about this as a lot can happen during the 3/4 months before the window even opens!

Secondly, even though Barkley has been pretty poor this season, there is no chance the Ev would sell us to him for that cheap and thats before we even know if he would want to move, which I doubt.

Thirdly, I would definitely hold on to Lucas, was a beast around the Christmas period before his injury and looked like his old self. He's probably the only player we have right now that is capable of doing a great job cleaning up all the work before the ball reaches our defence, and even if not the most creative player, he will certainly become a huge player for us in some big games in which will face a strong attack (think back to the Chelsea league cup semi's).

Deffo, I might moan and groan about a few of the boys between now and the end of the season, but ain't gonna start talking about summer transfers until ... the summer!!

Barkley would be a fantastic transfer, but i don't think it's likely. He's at Hendo's level at least.

Ajayi, you are clearly living in dream land. For starters, this season Lucas has been better than he has ever been by nearly every metric. Secondly, you think we'll get Lacazette for 25mil? I'll have what your smoking. Its hard to say given the current market and how desperate the lower clubs are for strikers, but I reckon getting 10mil for Borini is quite optimistic.

Ajayi,the only problem with your post is that it was merely optimistic. Atleast it wasn't totally moronic like GeorgeReds's;

Skrtel Lucas, Lovren and Allen out? Maybe one of them, but I'd rather none of them left. Lovren's value is at its lowest and I honestly believe that he can be a decent squad player for us in the future. Skrtel is immense - an excellent player so George can go to F**k there. Ditto Lucas. Allen is a very useful player and worth having in the squad. A better box-to-box player than Lucas, and a better DM than Henderson. Utility. That said, we have two B2B, one DM and one utility player - it wouldn't hurt the squad much if we swapped the Utility player out for another specialist DM.

Also you seem to be giving up on all our prospects/loanees;

I reckon atleast one of them will take up a squad role next season. Probably Wisdom or Illori, but one of the others may be a dark horse.

I don't mind people picking out players like its football manager - its fun. But atleast do it with some sense:

Miralem Pjanic/Lars Bender/Mateo Kovacic - 3 very different players. There's not much point of a slash indicating "or" if the players you want to add have nothing in common. No-one in their right mind should ever think "damn we missed out on Pjanic, lets go for Bender". You either wanted a Bender type player in the first place or you didn't.
Also, given the number of players you want leaving compared to the relative few coming in, it seems you are against the idea of having a decent sized squad. Which is also pretty thick.

When someone suggests gutting their team despite them playing well, it either makes them a moron or a WUM. Take your pick.

You don't do yourself any favours on here do you, George? Anyway, it's a little early to be discussing potential transfers. This thread should be called 'Summer Wish list'. Who we are able to sign and how much we're able to spend will in a large part be determined by our league position. I certainly think we should be looking to a much, much higher standard than the likes of which are on some of these 'ins' lists. If we finish in the top four this season we need to be a hell of a lot more ambitious with our transfers this Summer than we where last.

WTF Would you want to get rid of one Illori when he has done quite well on loan?..Skrtel, Lucas? two of our better players this season.

A lot of the others you mentioned I agree with but don't expect a huge amount incoming.

Brendan made it pretty damn clear this past summer that it was probably going to be the biggest flux of players we will ever see.

It's because of his scoring numbers this season mate.  Something like a goal every 1.5 games and converting at a ridiculous 38% or around the same as Messi and Ronaldo.

28% - and that is a damning stat in most analysis - not a good one. Whilst it is clear he is an excellent player, it is more than likely that these numbers are unsustainable. If he were taking lots of shots, particularly in the box and having these sorts of numbers that would be good, but as it stands it is very very likely that he will regress.

He's currently taking 2.06 shots per 90 inside the area which is a really low number for a top level striker.

Costa is someone who has a very high conversion rate (27%) but because his shots are all taken from good positions, it far less likely he will regress.


Basically, Lacazette's underlying numbers suggest that he isn't as good as goals tally says he is, but is still a great player.
