I've no idea about the size of the pitch at Villa but Wembley is always referred to as big pitch, will this benefit us or them?

You always here that but is it really that big?

Just looked it up. Yes I'm sad like that Debs.

      Wembley 115 by 74 yards.
Villa Park 115 by 72 yards.
      Anfield 110 by 75 yards.

Bit longer than ours but not as wide.

      Virtually the same as Villa's.

Looks like a bit of a myth then.

      Aye.

Just realised I've no idea how long five yards is so for all I know it could be huge compared to ours. ;D

It's a bit more than an average living room so it could have some impact but maybe not as much as the media make out.

It'll feel like we've more space though Si, especially out wide and in the channels and I think we're better at exploiting that than Villa will be.  One thing for sure though, the way both Managers like to play I doubt it will be a cagey affair.

Should have hung around for the afternoon Rodders. I'm having a couple in town in a couple of hours.

If you're still in a London on Monday give us a shout as I'm down for a couple of days.

Wembley is a big pitch so we need to take advantage of the extra space for our speedy attack.

I wouldn't bother with Sturridge, as he is clearly not fit and has been next to useless when he has played, hindering most of our forward play when he hasnt given the ball away.

With Skrtel back I would go back to the 3 at the back.
Which leaves probably the most intriguing question does Gerrard start instead of Allen?

                             Migs

                Can       Skrtel     Lovren

                            Lucas

                  Hendo  Gerrard/Allen

            Marko       Couts       Moreno

                            Sterling

One thing I have to say is how is our F***ing luck? Bendteke has done nothing all F***ing season but he finds form just in time to play us in the Semi. Lucky Skrtel is back because I would have had serious doubts if he was up against Lovren, Toure and Emre.

Was about to come here and say the same mate, this might be one of the worst times of the season to play Aston Villa. Benteke is the type of strong forward we've frequently struggled with but we are obviously a much better side so I'm confident we'll be securing a place in the FA Cup final on Sunday.

It's one of those games where I'm optimistic we'll go through but wouldn't be surprised if Villa turn it on and knock us out.

Nice to be in the semi's though. Loving it!!

We have struggled against Villa recently for some reason, so I will take any win in a semi (although a repeat of our last semi against them would be nice).  Semis are often fairly dour games with what is at stake so we just need that extra bit of quality we have to make the difference.

On the pitch, the Wembley pitch is not as big as it used to be - it has to do with UEFA pitch categories, where they say how big a pitch should be, which has made pitches more similar in size i think.

To all those who have got tickets, enjoy your weekend in London! It should be a great, open game. It will be interesting to see what set up the boss goes for, four at the back or three centre backs with wing backs? Four at the back means starting Johnson and I don't know whether that would be wise. I am however unsure of what centre backs are going to be available for this game with injuries, suspensions etc. happening recently.

Was that the '96 semi-final? I remember having our FA Cup run in video as a kid, loved Robbie's beauty that hit the post before going in!

Villa is a bogey team for us. Really hate playing them, especially with Benteke being in form at the moment. As others have said, we struggle with the big, strong No. 9s, so for that reason I would not be opposed to us returning to a back 3, something like this:

      Mignolet
      Can     Skrtel      Lovren
      Markovic           Lucas               Moreno
      Hendo        Allen
      Coutinho
      Sterling

This assuming Sturridge and Lallana are unfit to start. Gerrard probably on at half.

But I'd be OK with a similar 4-3-3 we used last week.
