      Liverpool FC 2014/2015 Awards
      Apr 27, 2015 10:20:06 pm
Bit of fun and a bit of distraction even if it is a bit early but seeing as the PFA Awards took place last night I might as well.

Maybe even a Dudek or four until the end of the season? I'll 'X' my selections and let me know if you think I've missed anybody or thing.

      BEST GOAL

      1) Alberto Moreno v Tottenham Hotspur

      http://youtu.be/ZjKDj0joiGM

      3) Philippe Coutinho v Southampton

      http://youtu.be/MlseuE45ShM

      4) Jordan Henderson v Manchester City

      5) Philippe Coutinho v Manchester City X

      6) Raheem Sterling v Chelsea

      BEST NEWCOMER:

      1) Lazar Markovic

      2) Emre Can X

      3) Alberto Moreno

      4) Rickie Lambert

      5) Mario Balotelli

      6) Adam Lallana

      7) Dejan Lovren

      YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR

      1) Raheem Sterling

      2) Emre Can X

      3) Philippe Coutinho

      4) Lazar Markovic

      5) Alberto Moreno

      PLAYER OF THE YEAR

      1) Simon Mignolet

      2) Martin Skrtel

      3) Mamadou Sakho

      4) Lucas Leiva

      5) Jordan Henderson

      6) Steven Gerrard

      7) Philippe Coutinho X

      8 ) Raheem Sterling

      9) Emre Can

      10) Adam Lallana

      11) Lazar Markovic

I could have easily picked the Coutinho goal against Southampton too, it was hard.

Content with my other picks although Mignolet came second in my player of the year vote. Yeah he was sh*t for the first half but the way in which he reacted to being dropped and all the criticism he was receiving surprised me and a lot of others no end. Stood up, changed it up and showed real character and balls and is now on for the Golden Glove. Stuck two fingers up at people like me and proved me wrong at the same time.

Coutinho though has been our best performer in my opinion.

What about Raheem's goal in the semi v the Chavs?

Real shame we don't have many goals to choose  :(

Sakho isn't a newcomer though didn't we sign him last season?

      My picks:

This was an absurdly good goal, made us think Moreno was a bargain pickup, and gave us hope that we were going to be in and around where we were last season. Then the international date come up after this and everything went to hell. Damn fine goal and my favorite this season.

No contest for me. Emre has been a beast.

      YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR

      1) Raheem Sterling

Raheem's gone off the boil a bit, but the fact that's he one of our stars at just 20 says it all.

      PLAYER OF THE YEAR

      8 ) Raheem Sterling

This was the toughest for me. I want to say Coutinho and I want to say Mignolet, each for different reasons, but I have to go with Sterling again. 7 goals (most on the team) and 7 assists (second most on the team), plus that little run we went starting in January was due to Sterling playing out of position as a striker. He could be much better and still has loads to learn, but he's hugely responsible for why we moved up the table.

Goal of the Season: Coutinho's goal vs City for me, pure class followed by the kind of celebrations I absolutely love.

Best Newcomer: Can without a doubt.

Young Player of the Year: Coutinho

      Player of the Year: Coutinho

First of all - great work to the opening poster.

I am going to lock this topic for now as we will do something along similar lines in the next couple of weeks - although we will most likely use the suggestions in this thread.

If you do indeed think there is anything missing from the opening post then please highlight it in the Feedback Board.
