This is my first time ever to communicate my feelings on what happened that night , i was 17 at the time and full of bravado . i watched it all unfold on front of me as i watched the telly . I knew something had happened but didn't know  how bad it had got until the news started filtering out of the sheer distruction . As far as i was concerned at the time  the Iti's got what was coming to them . I was wrong , nobody should ever go to a game and not come home . We were an angry lot too cocky for our own good . We were like an invincible army winning every battle and in the end we lost every thing that night . RIP to the 39 souls YNWA .

RIP to the 39 fans that never went back home, truly sad day.

In honor of the 30 year anniversary of this day and the fans who lost their lives, the Macedonian Reds fan club took the initiative to organize few friendly matches across the country between the Reds and Juve fans out here. One is played in town, so I'm planing on going and supporting the lads.

I was 11 years old watching it on telly. Something that has always stuck with me. Awful tragedy. R.I.P.

Terrible event. Yes, Liverpool fans need to take blame and some did getting jail time but there were others to blame but today is not the day for that. RIP #39

      RIP to the 39. Senseless.

I never really understood why Heysel isn't at more of the forefront. It just always seems to be in the shadows and mitigated into an insulting chant directed at Liverpool fans when the reality is the event was much more important than football. People died. Needlessly.

Heysel disaster: 30th anniversary marked in England, Belgium & Italy
Ceremonies have been held to mark the 30th anniversary of the Heysel football stadium disaster.

Thirty-nine fans died when an internal wall collapsed at the ground in Brussels before the 1985 European Cup final between Liverpool and Juventus.

The disaster unfolded after a surge by Liverpool fans drove supporters of the Italian club towards the wall.

Memorial events have taken place at Liverpool's Anfield stadium as well as at the scene of the tragedy in Belgium.

Representatives from Liverpool, including club ambassador Ian Rush - who also played for Juventus - will pay their respects later during a special Mass at Chiesa della Gran Madre di Dio church in Turin.

Balloons were released at the ceremony in Belgium
In Brussels the ceremony at the now-renamed King Baudouin Stadium included the laying of wreaths and families of those who died releasing balloons.

Phil Neal, who captained the Reds on the night of the disaster, laid a wreath at the Heysel Memorial in Anfield's Centenary Stand.
The stand will remain open for the rest of the day to allow people to remember those affected by the tragedy.

A ceremony at the site of the disaster in Brussels, now known as the King Baudouin Stadium, included the laying of wreaths. Relatives of those who died released balloons to remember their loved ones.

After a five-month trial which followed the disaster, 14 Liverpool fans were found guilty of manslaughter and jailed for three years.

An investigation in Belgium recommended that some of the blame be laid on the police and the football authorities.

What happened at Heysel also led to English clubs being barred from European competition for five years, with Liverpool serving an extra year.

The disaster happened after crowd disorder between Liverpool and Juventus fans at the 1985 European Cup final

If people dont know the full story of how these poor souls died it is worth reading how the club had warned UEFA of an impending disaster.

In someways the problems of Heysel were answered by the convictions and revelations of the way UEFA ran the competition. It still doesnt help the families of the poor souls who perished. the Families of the 96 are still today 26 years on finding out the "TRUTH" and as yet have no justice. Either way going to a football match should never end in the death of innocent people.

I always have tears in my eyes when i read the story of the father who took his kid to the game and both lost their lifes. Andrea Casula (11) and Giovanni Casula (44).

The darkest day in our history, and a sad tragedy. RIP.

      Tears me up.
      It's a harrowing account.

      To those families.
      To those friends.
Those whose loved ones never came home.
There are no words to convey the regret.
There is no apology that can repair the lives thorn.

As a Club and as supporters we should make sure we remember the 39 the same way we never forget the 96. It's only through humility and regret that we can convey our shame in the part we played in their deaths. RIP.

If this event never happened, no doubt in my mind, we would have at least 7 European Cups, especially that 87/88 team
