United are in desperate need of a right back, he'll go there because we're too stupid to offer respectable amounts for good players. We're too busy offering stupendous amounts for average.

United are apparently no longer interested so either between us or him signing a new deal, until of course Daniel levy has a look on the internet

Clyne is a good fullback. Fast, strong, solid defender. Would be a good addition and an immediate improvement on what we've got.

Just curious, who do you think is better, Trippier or Clyne? I also recall you wanting Clyne a couple of seasons ago :)

RB may not seem like an area of dire need, but I think it helps out a couple of positions...it gives us a solid RB and allows us to move Can from RB to his preferred (and needed) midfield role. Good business...now get it done.

Can we win a race only we're running? Hope so. Clyne is a good player.

It's the only race we ever win so I hope so. He'd walk straight into our team and improve that area quite a bit.

On recent transfer success, no.

We'll probably end up asking for a discount and scupper the deal!

According to James Pearce we can get Clyne for 15M if he tells Southampton he wants to come to us. 5M cheaper then what the Southampton hierarchy value him at.

That sums it all up there , the pl is full of good players and only a handful of top quality world class ones . That's why we're underachieving because we sign the Clynes and Lallanas instead of the Hazards and Agueros . Big dicks with empty pockets .

In a way I agree with you and in a way I don't.  Only because there is no Hazard or Aguero equivalent at right back. Clyne's in the top ten right backs in the world, easily.

This isn't about the positions they're playing in , it's about the mentality of the club and how it's making it's way to the fans and the dampening down of expectations . If he's top ten forget about getting him i doubt he is .

But when you're talking about a right back though, which we are, it should be

I understand your frustration but I don't think it applies here. I try to think of better options out there but honestly not many names come to mind. Clyne would be a good addition.

We can't afford the Hazards and Aguero's we have to get over this. So we need to sign the very best of want we can afford. A player like Clyne is a prime example of this. He is top quality and affordable for us. We should be all over this signing!

To be honest he's closer to top 5 than 10 I'd slot him in at 6-7th best RB in the world.

Please do tell me which other right back we should be targeting then. Which "world class" one since you're not content with a pretty good one?
