I would play Ings and Origi up front before Balotelli.

      Fair enough.

I wouldn't but I suspect the manager would agree with you mate.

      Mignolet

      Clyne    Skrtel    Sakho    Moreno

      Lucas

      Henderson      Milner

      Firmino  Sturridge Coutinho

I really like the look of this side. But man, Sturridge is just so unreliable :(

      For me:

                       Mignolet

      Clyne    Skrtle    Sakho   Moreno

                Milner Can Coutinho

             Lallana              Firmino

                       Sturridge

Henderson dropped. Let's get Can in the middle and make him our main man, show some faith.

That midfield would get run over by every side in the PL.

Interesting team Debs although I'm not a fan of the 3-4-3 formation, while it makes us more solid at the back it slows down the flow of our passing from defense through midfield too much for my liking.

I much prefer the quick pressing and recycling of the ball a three man central midfield provides which allows us to counter attack much faster.

I like to enjoy watching us attack, not worry about what happens if we lose the ball when we are  :D

Bold statement to make. I don't agree with where Coutinho is in that line up but Milner and Can are no push overs.

Markovic at LWB isn't a bad shout. He did alright there in a few games despite it not being his position. The Arsenal game at Anfield stands out as one.

How about we play him in his natural position where he played well in rather than play him in a position that he isn't comfortable with and done "Alright" in? Just a thought like.

Instead of signing players and then playing them where they don't actually play, how about we start signing players suited to the roles of the formation we use.

Actually run over isn't correct, it would simply be completely bypassed as Can, Milner and Coutinho are all far too attack minded to control the centre of the pitch.

I'm not the one who suggested playing him there. But I do agree with what you're saying.

I'd like to see us revert to a back four, but we'll need a solid DM or 2 good holding midfielders, depending on how the triangle is deployed. We can't leave the back exposed like we frequently did with Gerrard in that DM-ish role.

Don't get me wrong mate, wasn't saying you did, was more just a general point about why we seem to try and makeshift positions.

I still think that over the last 10 years, our best and all round strongest formation we have played is the 4-2-3-1 under Rafa. But then at the same time, a formation will only be as good as the players and right now I genuinely can't think what a solid formation would be for us. Maybe if we sign some more top class players like Firmino (basing that on what others are saying about him, I personally don't think I have ever seen him play) then we will get a clearer idea.

I tend to like the 4-2-3-1 as well, or a 4-3-3 with a 2-1 triangle, which isn't too drastically different. No matter what we pick, though, that striker position is one big, gaping hole.

formation 4-2-2-2 in a box mid field formation with the two attacking mids covering wide when we lose the ball but not going as far back as wingbacks.

Any team selection that has Milner on the bench is pure fantasy.
He was brought in to start and be integral to our set up in my opinion

On top of that I would add that he did not come to play as a LB he will be in the midfield except in extreme circumstances.

      100% correct
I think he is a hugely under rated footballer.
I believe his ability and attitude is a great fit for us.

He will come in as the most decorated of our squad and should automatically command respect.

      Premier League (2): 2011–12, 2013–14
      FA Cup (1): 2010–11
      FA Community Shield (1): 2012
      Football League Cup (1): 2013–14

      Individual
PFA Young Player of the Year: 2009–10[121]
PFA Premier League Team of the Year: 2009–10

I don't think he will be named captain ( I still think Hendo will be it) but will be named vice-captain and keep everybody on the straight and narrow.

Don't be so sure. There was a reason that Brendan was hesitant to crown Hendo the de facto captian for this season during last season. I bet Milner very well could have been promised captaincy by Brendan, may have been a reason for him to choose us over the bigger payday at City. I know if it'd been me in Milner's spot...I'd have asked to be captain. Most decorated, most experienced.
