Brisbane Roar 1-2 Liverpool: In game and post match chinwag
      Jul 16, 2015 11:46:53 am
Liverpool's second pre-season friendly sees Brendan Rodgers' team take on A-League side Brisbane Roar at the Suncorp Stadium.

Fresh from a 4-0 victory in Bangkok to begin the campaign, the Reds have returned to Australia two years after their first visit.

And next they tackle the Roar in a 9.45am BST kick-off which can be watched live on LFCTV and LFCTV GO.

Brisbane Roar sounds like a Rugby League team.

Quite looking forward to this game. Been watching the A-League for a couple of seasons so will be good to see some of them line up against Liverpool. Victory played well against us a couple of years ago with some of their big players missing so I'm hoping Brisbane carry on from that and hopefully make it a more competitive game than the one we experienced a few days ago. Brisbane didn't have that good of a season last time round as they missed out on the play-offs.

Official sideline report from myself says we're gonna get beat. That was terrible :D

Our youngsters looked awful, Clyne was crap, Hendo was sluggish, and Lambert and Moreno were training with the youngsters the whole time.

Brisbane Roar sounds like a Rugby League team.

That's the Brisbane Broncos, and the Brisbane Lions are the AFL team.

Do find it strange still after 11 years here that Aussie teams, in any sport almost always have names like that.

Not long to go - just got to get through the day at work.

End of last season I was thinking "damn, we could actually lose to one of the Aussie teams" but now I'm thinking we'll blitz them. Origi is definitely scoring 2 or more against one of these sides. :D

Was asked to take the day off work to mind the kids while the wife heads out for the day.
Honestly forgot about this game when I agreed. Some more early induction to the reds for
      my  2 wee boys. Sweet.

      Stronger starting XI

Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho, Gomez, Henderson, Lucas, Milner, Ings, Lallana, Origi.

With all the feel good factor concerning our signings, I have to say I'm more interested to see how Henderson performs today. Not sure what it is exactly but he looks hungrier, leaner; almost as if the presence of Gerrard departing has enabling him to express himself more.

Also keeping an eye on Lucas too, who I thought had a poor game last outing. Early days but he looked quite pedestrian for most parts of the game.

Does Moreno not need to get fit then? :D

He's no doubt more motivated after being made captain too.

I don't think Morenos fitness was ever a concern, just his decision making when attempting to defend. I can't watch this one, but would love to see how Gomez works out at LB.

Yeah agree with both, Henderson wants to win whether its a friendly or a cup final so playing a strong side with Henderson captain from friendly #1 will help build that winning mentality, we want to approach every game playing a high standard of football, winning football. Conversely, perhaps Lucas needs a dash of that mentality, he's been doing so much off-field for our group that it's almost like his game isn't priority, but it has to be, he has to look out for himself and establish himself in the starting XI again, I think we'd all love to see that!

Can't believe kick off is in 5 mins - just came home from work - is this what it feels like to be from your part of the world?? :D

Looks like a strong team and quite like the look of how we've set up too, a 442 diamond with the 2 youngsters upfront.  Hope they fill their boots and get their Liverpool careers off to a flyer  :gt-happyup:
