Liverpool 1-0 AFC Bournemouth: In game and Post Match debate
      Aug 17, 2015 07:00:01 pm

      Anfield

Players and staff arriving at Anfield early

Starting XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Skrtel, Gomez, Henderson, Milner, Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe, Benteke

Subs: Bogdan, Toure, Firmino, Moreno, Can, Origi, Ings

Brendan Rodgers has named an unchanged line-up for Liverpool's first home game of the new season, against Bournemouth, this evening.

The same XI that started the opening fixture at Stoke City eight days ago is selected for the Anfield clash with Eddie Howe’s newly-promoted side.

That means maiden appearances in front of the Kop for summer signings Christian Benteke, Nathaniel Clyne, Joe Gomez and James Milner.

The Reds bench remains the same too, with Roberto Firmino among those awaiting a first chance to run out at Anfield since joining the club.

Regardless of the score I want to see Firminho and Can on at half time.

Well in Clint on the OP. Can't wait for this!

I wouldn't underestimate Eddie Howe and Bournemouth though, they know how to play.

Hoping the same. Also hoping this doesn't mean anything for Sakho's future.

I actually think Sakho is being given some time to settle down with his new daughter if I'm being honest.

Man, no Sakho again in the 18? I don't get it. I understand last week, but what's the deal?

So I guess this means Lucas is gone before the window closes.

      And Sakho?

Looking forward to this, Bournemouth like to play football so it should be a good game as we always play better against these sort of teams than those who park the bus.

Glad it's the same starting 11, we need to get our rhythm going and bed in new systems and players before the really tough games start and those still not ready will get minutes later in the game when we're hopefully winning.

Yes it would be great to put on a show for the home crowd but 3 points is more important at this stage in the season.

Come on you Reds  :scarf: :kop5cf8koxp6: :scarf:

No Sakho in the 18, but of course it's purely about giving him time with his daughter.... I don't believe that.

Not surprised by the line-up, said earlier in the week that I thought Brendan would start with the same and to be honest I'm very disappointed with it. As I explained then, we'll probably win and win comfortably, the problem being that will give Brendan and those who back him blindly the justification to believe the choice is right to stick with the same XI when we go away to Arsenal at which stage I expect us to get found out.

If we started with Firmino and Can I'd give us a chance against Arsenal, without them I think we're going to struggle. Will be interesting to see if they're needed in this 90 and if not if they're given the nod against them because these are the decisions that define great managers from ordinary, adapt, progress and identify problems before they become obvious to everyone.

Still expect a comfortable win and will be great to see the lads run out at Anfield again, come on!!

I suspect we'll see more of them same. Direct/long football and majority of our attacks going out wide?

Surprised to see Sakho completely left out again, wonder if there's something going on there. Lallana a very lucky boy to start this one (probably only because Firmino isn't fit), surely he knows he has to step it up today.

Should win this one but we have to be very careful of the counter attack, a lot of pace in that Bournemouth team and Matt Ritchie is a good little player too.

Some people only care about whether they are proven "right", they couldn't care less about supporting our team.

I don't really care who plays, who scores, whatever as long as we get 3 points. Doesn't make me any more right or wrong about Brendan or anyone on the team for that matter...just makes me happy because the point of being a supporter is to SUPPORT.
