Liverpool 1-1 FC Sion: In game and Post Match hmmm
      Oct 01, 2015 06:53:13 pm

The Shankly statue outside the Kop this evening

Starting XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Toure, Gomez, Can, Lallana, Rossiter, Allen, Ibe, Origi, Ings

Subs: Bogdan, Coutinho, Sakho, Moreno, Brannagan, Randall, Chirivella.

Divock Origi returns to the Liverpool starting XI as Brendan Rodgers makes seven changes for tonight's Europa League clash with FC Sion.

The young Belgian, who made his first competitve start for the Reds in their last outing in Europe, is paired with Danny Ings as part of a two-man strikeforce at Anfield.

In midfield, Joe Allen steps up his return from injury as he starts alongside Jordan Rossiter, whose Academy colleagues Cameron Brannagan, Connor Randall and Pedro Chirivella make the bench.

Brendan Rodgers in LFC program notes: Know a lot of hard work ahead to give fans season they expect and deserve. Moving in the right direction.

Really good to see Rodgers favouring 2 strikers and a DM last 2-3 games :)

      Wowsers!

That's a very inexperienced team, I wasn't expecting that at all.

Ah, there's Mignolet to ensure we keep a clean sheet.  :f_tongueincheek:

Can, Toure and Gomez as a back 3 Ummh.

Allen and  Rossiter in midfield I hope they don't have any bruisers in the middle.

I think that team will comfortably put away Sion. Glad to see it's 2 up top too, expect us to go a couple up and then Ings to be saved for the weekend?... oh probably not as Big Ben will likely take his place.

Take that as a challenge Danny lad, bag yourself a hat-trick, do what you've been doing in every game and work your socks off and expose Brendan for the favourite picker he is again if he does decided to switch back to Benteke.

Also be good to see Gomez get another run out at CB, hopefully challenging Skrtel soon enough.

      4-0 imo.

Not a side that I'd expect to sweep all before them. Looking at it, a lot depends on Ings to make something happen up front. Ibe hasn't been playing well, Lallana continues to underwhelm, though has the odd goal in him. Have energy in Rossiter and Allen. Two FBs need to get forward. And calamity jane in nets.

Allen is no world-beater, but an in-good-form Allen would imo push for a starting place in the first XI. Know he's not Mr Popular, but I'd like to see us get it down and pass it a bit better in general, and he can do that when playing well. So hopefully he plays well...

Lot of players in that team either struggling for form or very inexperienced ....

If he is, I couldn't care less, as long as he plays like him, then he can get rid of that annoying Welsh Xavi tag and be called, the Welsh Pirlo!!

Same here mate although I'm not sure who would play the left lung back role? Maybe it's a back four of Clyne, Can, Toure and Gomez?

Lmao, it's old fashioned yes but it's just simple and everyone knows what their job is on the pitch.

I be has done the job on the right on a few occasions but not on the left that I can recall, no doubt he can do it though. I'm keen to see how Rossiter goes, I love the kid. Bit of pressure of Origi as well, he has been very poor so far this season and could find himself out on loan in January if he can't pick it up.
