One Ton, One Ton, One Ton, One Ton, Enrique, Enrique!
      Jan 31, 2016 11:14:48 am
Out of all these threads I've done, this is the one I'm most worried about not actually happening. Jose Enrique is just one game away from reaching the hundred game mark for Liverpool Football Club but it is quite possible he'll never get there. I think he will though.

But here he is, on the brink of becoming the 201st man to make 100 Liverpool appearances. He'll go level with another left back, Joey Jones. It's safe to say it didn't take Joey nearly five years to reach his total though.

A lot of people rate Enrique and his injuries really have hindered his career but it's still a big well done to Jose on finally getting up to the ton. It'll probably be in the replay against West Ham, if not then the next round of the Cup.

      Well in Jose lad.

Used to rate Enrique highly, like him a lot less now for bleeding the club whilst knowing he has little future here.

When he was fit I think he was a very good left back.

There was a time when he was solid as a rock at LB. Good servant to the club, real shame about his injuries.

I thought that too and then I thought how would he be allowed to get like that.

He's still only here because he explicitly said he couldn't get as good a wage at any other club. So it's never been about playing for him.

He's fat, he's unfit, he's sh*te, and most importantly, to top it off, an attitude that stinks too. Can't wait for the club to get rid of him. He's been endemic of the type we've bought the last few years, the overpaid lazy player who doesn't get the club

For a guy who's not in the team, doesn't look like he's trying too hard to break in carrying all that timber.

Is there any way back for Liverpool's Jose Enrique?

      05:00, 30 SEP 2015 UPDATED 08:04, 30 SEP 2015
      BY JAMES PEARCE
Is Langtree Park as good as it gets for forgotten full-back?

It was a timely reminder of what Jose Enrique used to do for a living.

There was the Spanish full-back representing Liverpool Football Club and charging down the left flank before delivering the perfect cross for rookie Jerome Sinclair to score,

Enrique’s 45-minute run out for the Reds’ under-21s against Leicester at St Helens’ Langtree Park on Monday night represents the first step on the long road towards resurrecting his Anfield career.

It was the first competitive football the 29-year-old has played this season after he ignored Brendan Rodgers’ advice to leave the club this summer.

Enrique was told in no uncertain terms that he didn’t feature in the manager’s plans and was omitted from the squad for the pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia, along with Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli.

d trio were banished to train away from the rest of the players throughout pre-season at Melwood as Liverpool looked to move them on.

Borini and Balotelli both eventually got the message and accepted that they needed to further their careers elsewhere but Enrique dug his heels in.

With deadline day approaching, Liverpool were prepared to accept just a nominal fee in order to get him off the wage bill. However, after holding talks with a number of clubs both in England and Spain, he opted to stay put.

The bottom line was that nobody was willing to match his £65,000 per week contract which expires next summer.

“I’m happy to stay and fight for my place,” tweeted Enrique, who then responded to a torrent of criticism from supporters on deadline day by announcing he was quitting all social media sites.

Over the past month he has stayed true to his word. There have been no photos of him smooching with girlfriend Amy Jaine on a night out, playing with his kitten or endorsing a new range of clothes.

Since the window shut, Enrique has been allowed to rejoin the first-team squad for training at Melwood, but he remains out of favour and down the pecking order.

New signing Joe Gomez started the season at left-back and his place has been taken by Alberto Moreno for the past four matches.

With Enrique ineligible for the Europa League after not being named on Liverpool’s 21-man list, trying to force his way back into the side won’t be easy.

Yet there is still a chink of light for him. His position isn’t an area where the Reds are blessed with a great amount of cover.

With Rodgers now favouring three at the back, who would the manager turn to if Moreno got injured or endured another slump?

Unlike many of those currently on the fringes at Anfield, Enrique has already proved he can be a success for Liverpool.

The £6million signing from Newcastle was part of Kenny Dalglish’s side who won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final in 2011/12. Having clocked up 43 appearances in his first season, there were another 35 under Rodgers in 2012/13,

His on-field rapport with Luis Suarez meant he was the creator for some of the Uruguayan’s most memorable goals for the club.

But defensively he always struggled to convince Rodgers that he was reliable enough and after he was dogged by a knee injury for most of 2013/14 Liverpool went out and paid Sevilla £12million for Moreno.

Last season was another disaster for Enrique as he struggled for both form and fitness. On his last two starts against Basel and Bolton he was hauled off by Rodgers on both occasions at half-time.

the current calender year he has played just 83 minutes of first-team football.

Enrique has risked writing off yet another season by refusing to leave. A run-out with the kids in front of a sparse crowd at St Helens might be as good as it gets for him over the coming months.

But if he’s serious about gracing the Premier League again rather than simply picking up his wages for the next nine months then he must knuckle down and prove himself once again.

Another play who takes way too much sh1te. He has had some injury problems and has lost his place, he will go for a free in the summer end off, happens all the time at top clubs.

He has played in u21 games and the FA Cup games, he is just working up to fitness.

And btw yes he maybe said he won't move for less wages, would anybody on here move for less wages. Be honest ?

      I wouldn't.
