Liverpool 2-2 Sunderland: In Game and Post Game Discussion
      Feb 06, 2016 02:00:03 pm

Anfield today. Brickwork completed on Anfield's new Main Stand columns as new pieces arrive.

Get well soon Klopp.  Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp will be absent from today's Barclays Premier League fixture against Sunderland at Anfield, after suffering a suspected bout of appendicitis.

First-team duties will be overseen by the remaining members of the coaching staff, including Zeljko Buvac, Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and John Achterberg.

Starting XI: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Can, Henderson, Allen, Milner, Lallana, Firmino

Subs: Ward, Toure, Benteke, Sturridge, Lucas, Ibe, Flanagan.

Daniel Sturridge has been named among the substitutes as Liverpool make one change to their line-up for this afternoon's Barclays Premier League clash with Sunderland.

Joe Allen is brought into the team for fellow midfielder Lucas Leiva at Anfield, in the only alteration to the side that started the defeat at Leicester City on Tuesday night.

On the bench, meanwhile, Sturridge is fit enough to be included in the squad for the first time since early December.

We need him but I think everyone is terrified to trust his fitness.

so if Klopp is sick who is calling the shots? I can only guess Klopp will be watching from home but using a cell phone? At least he might get a fans perspective for once, sometimes it is easier to see the game as a whole as a fan.

Best midfielder dropped to accommodate what was an awful display from both Henderson and Can. Brave call.

Not confident. Sunderland will be in our faces and we have 11 skirts in our team lately. Hoping we can put something together and clinch the win.

While I expect a win, this line up does not look positive to me. Giving too much respect to the opposition at home; I would have preferred two strikers upfront to get the goals early, at least strikers for the midfielders to pass to when they look forward rather than trying to slow the ball down because of the absence of options upfront.

Seeing as we're doing this sh*t again, I don't want to see Firmino as the false 9, he should be playing as a 9 instead.

Exactly, if he gets a run out, we'll all be hiding behind the couch, with all fingers and toes crossed, clutching a lucky rabbit's foot, whilst praying to God that he doesn't break a toe nail!  :f_whistle:

Lucas? I don't think Lucas is best.. I would have him over Can right now but it is very marginal with Henderson. Lucas still gives away too many free silly free kicks. I don't think we can blame any result on Lucas not playing.

they are not silly free kicks he stops the opponents when he sees danger so its either a tackle or a Yellow he does more than anyone else for the team

Refresh of midfield, shame the same isnt happening in defence and attack area. Flano and Sturridge  :P must be very close to starting line-up. Good to see Allen starting. Going to be tough for him if Emre and Hendo continue delivering sod all.

just watching the City game and our defence could do worse than watch Leicester. When City get into their box their is no panic no wild tackles just good defending and players backing each other up.

I see Leicester are 3 up at the Etihad.  Jesus, Leicester! WTF have we done spending so much money on our squad, they've spent F**K all and they'll be 6 points clear at the top of the EPL.  Jesus, our players need to take a good look at themselves.  Need a big win today please.
