I had high hopes when we signed Migs. Not going to go down that road again, so I will wait and see this time.

The good ... he must be better than Migs

The bad... he's a bit of a short arse for modern goalkeepers.

Welcome to Liverpool Loris, hopefully another important piece in the jigsaw.

Could maybe do with a couple of pizzas and the odd kebab?

Indeed....maybe LFC can hook her up with some Dunkin Donuts.

My only concern is that he's going to be away at the Olympics for the first few weeks of the season.  Would've been best to just give him the starting job straight away, but now it seems we will have to start Mignolet.  So what happens when Karius comes back?  Will Klopp just drop Mignolet?  Seems unlikely.

Best scenario IMO is we make it clear to Mignolet that he will be second choice next season.  Hopefully he will then F**k off this summer, so we can start Ward the first few games of the season, who will have no problem knowing that Karius will take over the starting job when he comes back from the Olympics.

If she's after a cocktail sausage I reckon I could help her out.

      Momentarily.

No shortage of gents on here!
But he's from Germany, she likes frankfurters :)

Back on topic. Reckon taking the No.1 jersey is a statement too. Am sure not lost on Migs...

Problem with a new goalkeeper is that the team now have to get used to him. No more automatically walking back to the centre circle after any shot on target, no more visits to the snack bar while waiting for Migs to finally release the ball.

Some comparison stats for our new keeper for those who're not sure if he's an upgrade.

Successfully dealt with 99% of balls in the air he went for.  Compared to 89% for Mignolet (Worst in Europe for 30+ games)

Only conceded 3 goals from corners and none from free kicks.  Mignolet conceded 8 from corners alone (both just in the league).

Made 3 defensive errors and none led to a goal.  Mignolet made 8, 4 led to goals.  To put that into context Neuer made 4 defensive errors in the same number of games.

He conceded 42 goals and made 87 saves.  Mignolet also conceded 42 but only made 54 saves.  Only 2 keepers made less saves in Europe - but they both conceded under 20 goals).

His distribution is worse though.  He had 60% pass completion as opposed to 66% for Mognolet, however his average pass was 47m, 16m longer than Mignolet.  Which may suggest he was asked to kick longer more often?

He also faced 7 pens in the league saving 2.  Mignolet faced 3 and saved 1.

A cardboard cutout would have been an upgrade on Migs.

Like most, you fail to correctly assess Migs real ability.

A cardboard cutout would have been a big upgrade on Migs.

Hoping he is better than Mignolet

Unlikely to go wrong given how low the bar Simon sets.

Hopefully Karius turns out to be a GREAT signing! Lord knows we needed an improvement at keeper, so I'm pretty stoked about this. Don't F**k this up, Achterberg.
