What stood out to me from the official interview-

You’ll be working with Simon Mignolet, who is 28 now and has a great deal of experience. How much are you looking forward to learning from him?

You can learn from every goalkeeper and every goalkeeping coach, because everyone brings new stuff. I’m looking forward to working with the whole goalkeeping team. It’s a new experience.

You were first-choice at your previous club. Is that something you want to achieve here?

Of course, otherwise I wouldn’t make the move, if I thought I was just going to sit on the bench. I want to play and I feel like I will be able to do that if I do well in training and pre-season and the pre-season games. I’m confident. I’ve played almost 100 league games in Germany, so I’m young but I’m experienced. I’m not afraid of anything.

What are your goals and ambitions here?

I want to be in goal and play for Liverpool every week. And then win a trophy with the club, that’s what everyone wants. I want to do my part and help.

Specifically, I liked the ducking of the Mignolet question  :D

His distribution is worse though.  He had 60% pass completion as opposed to 66% for Mognolet, however his average pass was 47m, 16m longer than Mignolet.  Which may suggest he was asked to kick longer more often?

See, that's my problem with goalkeeper stats.  Comparing someone with 60% pass completion at an average of 47m is meaningless next to 66% for 31m.

The bad... he's a bit of a short arse for modern goalkeepers.

      He's 6ft2 (and a half  :) ) according to his wiki

He's taller than Iike Casillas, Hugo Lloris and Pepe Reina, according to theirs ( they were the first to come to my head when I thought of keepers around 6 ft, they've done ok)

Certainly agree though that we have to wait and see, it's a more physical league over here, but I'm hopeful... I always am

All the goalkeepers you mentioned (off the top of your head) are getting on mate. As in most sports people are getting taller and especially with top young goalkeepers.

It doesn't mean he can't still be a good goalkeeper, just that he's a bit of a short arse for a modern young goalkeeper.

I said first that came to my head, had to think of it for a few seconds like but first that came to me.

I think you're pushing it to say the current French and Spurs captain isn't a modern keeper,  he's in his prime, the other two are certainly of the modern game too. I don't think all keepers coming through are going to be 6'4 and above

Yes there are plenty bigger, but there is a lot of keepers that have been or are at the top of their position around that 6'2-6'3 frame

He's got arms and can jump too like 😉

Can't say I've ever watched him though, fingers crossed he goes on to be a top keeper

Most of the top goalkeepers are much taller now mate.

      Courtois  6'6"
      Neuer     6'4"
      Hart       6' 5"
      Cech      6' 4"

Even Simon can look down on him.

Anyway not getting into another pedantic argument. He's a shortarse for a young modern keeper imo you can believe whatever you wish.

He's certainly cocksure! We need some real cocky bas**rds in this team - he may be one of them! No time for shrinking violets on the field!

Ideally should be the goldilocks height ... not to short ... not too long ... just right.

      Now, back to goalkeepers ...

If you're reflexes, positioning, handling and kicking are good, anything over 6ft is good. So no it doesn't really matter.

      I'm 6ft 3" and I'm sh*t in net.

Leicester's keeper is the shortest in the Premier League.
      Sunderland's is the tallest.
