Liverpool summer signing Loris Karius ruled out for two months with hand injury

Jürgen Klopp's preparations for the new season have suffered a setback after Loris Karius was ruled out for two months.

Karius, the £4.7million summer signing, has broken a bone in his hand and left Liverpool's training base in Palo Alto to fly home to England.

The German goalkeeper picked up the injury after colliding with Dejan Lovren during the International Champions Cup game against Chelsea on Wednesday and will require an operation.

Karius is expected to be out of action for eight to ten weeks, ensuring that Simon Mignolet is now poised to start the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 14.

      F**k sake.

I can't believe we have to endure more of Mignolet, sick of watching him not save shots and flap at everything.

I blame FSG..if they would stop F***ing around with cheap signings we probably could have gotten a goalkeeper with stronger bones.  ;)

Oh for F**k sake! Feel like laughing and crying at the same time. Of course we are going to start the season with our sh*t keeper :D. Manninger gets onto the bench already.

      Agreed! :D

Either that or Jürgen is overtraining them...

Really is one of that last people, if you had to choose, of anyone you'd want injured. For so many reasons in pre-season with a new defence etc but of course with our opening games we're probably going to be under more pressure in that short run than any time in the season (defensively). Typical.

Just wait till Sturridge or Can picks up a knock...  >:D

But seriously, can't convince me this isn't  the result of Mignolet smashing about a f**king voodoo doll.

If something can go wrong it will...sods law.

At least now if things go tits up we can always blame Mignolet... bet Moreno is feeling a little better now he has company. :)

F**k sake, so not only do we have to go into the season with Moreno but now Migs too. That's pretty much as bad as it could have gotten.

we're doomed, doomed I tells ya!! At least he'll only miss the first 6 weeks of the season, we don't have any big games then do we, oh wait... :-(
In all seriousness it might just give Migs the kick up the arse and incentive he needs to step up to the plate, knowing that he has a very good keeper waiting in the wings, I  know I know its not much of a silver lining but its something!!

On the bright side, Sturridge is still fit... although we do have a few preseason games to go yet.

Guess it's a good thing we have an experienced 3rd keeper as backup.
