      Making football better
      Jun 14, 2016 09:12:43 pm
Only just occurred to me - this is very random - but aren't throw ins weird?

I think 'kick ins' would make footy well more exciting.

      Anything else?

And 2 playerse each+keeper in the box from a corner.

That wouldn't help our corners though.

Make the goals a smidge bigger. Get the boffins working on how much bigger they'd need to be to incur @5% more goals.
And more yellow cards for foul and abusive language. For the sake of the kids, need to clean it up a little for fucks sake :)

Hey, dumb yank here with a question, is there a rule that says on a free kick you can only have so many players standing directly on the goal line? If not, why don't teams basically place a wall of players in front of the goal with the keeper standing in front instead of a wall 10 yards off the kick taker?

If there's a rule and this is a stupid question; please excuse my lack of American soccerball knowledge ;D

There's no rule at all mate but it would just end up like pin ball until they scored as sooner or later the line would have to break to try and clear the ball.

      1) Instead of having penalty shootouts, let the winner be the person with the least red and yellow cards.
      2) 5 subs per match instead of 3.
      3) 4 quarters instead of two halves.
      4) Challenge a refs decision using video replay. 2 challenges per team each game.

I think 'kick ins' would make footy well more exciting.

      Anything else?

Kick ins were proposed 20 years ago, and experimented with, then dropped.

      As regards improvements.

Retrospective bans for diving that are unseen on the day. The length of ban to be determined by amount of occurrences by player concerned.
Reckless tackles that cause serious injury, to see the tackler "banned" until the injured player is available to play again.
Shirt pulling at corners to be automatically punished by penalties. Sorry Skrtel.
Time wasting at the corner flag to be eliminated by further injury time added on. One of my pet hates that one.
Time wasting by injury time substitutions, to be penalised by an extra minute of injury time.
A broken line from the edge of the penalty area to the touchline. Only players beyond that point can be offside.
Video referee to be routine. We must have the right decision every time, however long it takes.
Remove goalline refs. They make no decisions and serve no purpose.
Three yellow cards = red card. So many more offences are yellow cards these days compared to when two yellow cards became a red.
Three yellow cards in three games = suspension in tournaments for reasons as above.
Extra sub available in extra time games.
Revert to three subs in friendlies. The current allocation ruins friendly games.
European Cup games to be played on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and UEFA Cup games to be played on Tuesdays again. Then everybody takes them seriously.

      Any takers?

The ref has to sit on the penalty spot and have one person boot a ball at him for each mistake he makes during the match.

Needs to be accountability in the game.

Never understood the call for retrospective bans for players that have dived and not been spotted.

Reason being that if a player is punished for it on the day he gets a yellow card.

Any match that ends in a draw concludes by the referee getting both managers in the centre circle for a bollock kicking competition, last man standing wins.

Got a feeling Fat Sam would win a few trophies if this was the case

Referee match reports that are made public to give more accountability for decisions that are terrible or at least give the referee a chance to explain what lead them to making that call.

Instead of a shoot out, each side selects 5 players from opposing side and do a crossbar challenge from the centre spot and shooting towards their own fans,

If at the end of 5 attempts each, and it's still level the remaining 10 players have a go but this time the ball is moved 5 yards closer to the goals, after each miss, if it's still level after that the captains have keepie up contest using both feet, knees thighs and head the ball must be touched at least 3 times by each body part.

Instead of penalties, flip a coin.

In fact for some premier league games such as Stoke V Hull, just flip a coin full stop.
