We usually end up with a promoted team first. I'd like a winnable home game to start us off the season on the front foot. Think how we start could set the tone for the season. If we can get a few wins early we can build confidence and momentumm

Ditto, a good start is essential and needs to be carried on through the season.

Have we not requested the first two games to be away, so we can finish the stadium expansion?

I know we put in a request but haven't heard if it has been granted or not.

But I echo your idea of an easy game to get us going.

Similar stitch up to last year with some huge away games in the opening 6 weeks. We've got Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea away plus Leicester at home in amongst our first 6 games. having said that, we performed really well in a lot of those games last year and then blew points against the so-called minnows so who knows.

      August

      13 – Arsenal (A)
       20 – Burnley (H)
       27 – Tottenham Hotspur (A)

      September

      10 – Leicester City (H)
       17 – Chelsea (A)

LFC have written to Burnley to ask if they can 'swap' the game on the 20th August - ie. so we would play at their ground.

Trust the Premier League to be arses about it and put our 2nd game as a home fixture. 4 of our first 5 games are ruthless :D Going to need a quick start.

I like the last 2 months' fixtures though, none of the other so called big teams.

I love those first six fixtures,  the most difficult game being Spurs away in my opinion.

Having a big boy away for the first game is ideal. Both teams will be a little bit rusty, confidence and form doesn't come in to it, it can literally go either way, probably to the team who is the most fittest that early in the season and with Klopp managing things from the off this season then I have no doubt which team that will be. I expect us to out run them all over the park for 90mins and I'm confident we will bring at least a point back.

I fully expect us to win our three home games, so that's 9 points already.

Chelsea have a new manager so going to Stamford Bridge so early is again ideal for us. Get it out the way and bring the points home. No better time to play them in my opinion.

Spurs is the difficult one but again it's best to get it out of the way now.

      Good fixtures, happy with them.

Loving the optimism dude! Must admit i'm not quite so enthusiastic. I remember the in 08-09 under Rafa when we challenged for the title we had a relatively soft start to the schedule, we made a really good start and built momentum from there, same applied in 2012-13. Strange things can happen when you get off to a flyer but these fixtures make it that much harder. You made some good points on Chelsea and Arsenal though.

We had a similar start to last season drawing at Arsenal, beating Chelsea, drawing at Spurs and at Everton so clearly it was some of the other so called easier games that really cost us, particularly at home.

Yes, we've got some tough fixtures towards the beginning of the season.

On the other hand we have a very easy tail end of the season, we could easily will all ten of our last games.

Next season feels a bit more real now, only 8 weeks to go and loads of football to come before then.

Doesn't bother me who we play or when, it just bugs me having to wait a week between games.  I get way too bored in between.

If we get our sh*t together against the bottom feeders that run in is a piece of piss compared to previous years.

Just been looking and last season we only played 6 of our 38 games at 3pm.

And that's not just because of European involvement.  Going back to 13-14 our last season with no European football - we only played 8 games at 3pm.

In other words - take the fixture list as an indication of approximately when our games will be!

The start is a challenge but a challenge we will rise to, if we have a decent number of points after our first 6 games then it can really act as a springboard for the rest of the season.

The run in looks very good for us.

Just postpone the fixture, job done. It's not like either club is short of dates to rearrange it.

Alternatively, play it on the Monday night that week, and be the last club to start it's home games, like last season.

Would have preferred an easier start myself. Klopp has already said that he may not even play some of our players in the early games if they have been involved in the Euros.

I think there is a chance that the hard conditioning work may leave our players a little "leggy" early on too.

Better imo if we played the bigger teams when they have the distractions of Europe.

A good start is important and can set the stage for a title challenge if we get on a roll. So I'm not thrilled with the early fixtures, but the glass is always half empty for me these days. :)

Like 6stringer I'm not bothered, we have to (beat) play everyone anyhoo, I'm confident we will get off to a good start, by the time the gooners game arrives Klopp will have us full of confidence and chomping,

When we hit the ground running it will boost confidence and will give us momentum and of course that winning mentality, with no euro footie, our players will be forever fresh and hopefully injury free, it's a marathon not a sprint so somewhere we will more than likely hit a rough patch, this is June 15th 2016, I'm saying this now so I can refer back to it towards the end of the season, we will win our least 9 games, if fixtures stay as they are, that's 27 points, that's a league winning run right there,

      Just saying like    :f_whistle:

Tough start that. Hopefully our Euros lads get knocked out early and not many get picked for the Olympics.

Run in looks good though, would fancy us to go on a good winning run there if we have our key players fit.

      August

      13 – Arsenal (A)
      20 – Burnley (H)
      27 – Tottenham Hotspur (A)

      September

      10 – Leicester City (H)
      17 – Chelsea (A)
      24 – Hull City (H)

      October

      1 – Swansea City (A)
      15 – Manchester United (H)
      22 – West Bromwich Albion (H)
      29 – Crystal Palace (A)

Pretty tough opening 10 matches there, but I suppose it will be good to get road trips to Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea out of the way so early in the season.

The lads get 4 weeks after their last International game so if we're out on Monday they'll be back on 18th July.  Can't see us winning tomorrow so the Slovakia game is irrelevant.

There's only Can who might be late back out of our regular starters, with possibly Migs, Origi and Benteke back somewhere in between.

There will be lots of changes to those fixtures as the season progresses so taking it all with a pinch of salt really, my season ticket will enable me to be at all the home games though and hopefully I'll be lucky enough to get to half a dozen or so away games too  8)

Like Debs said, it doesn't matter who we play and when as you have to play everyone twice, tough start but it will be a challenge and hopefully we won't be playing catch up by the time we get to the end of September  ;)

      Bring it on !!

How is the Slovakia game irrelevant? I thought that the third place team qualifies as well?

Really?  Shows how much notice I take of Internationals.  When and why did this happen then is it like a play off against other 3rd places?

Not really seeming as they will all have midweek games later in the season...

1 month since the list was released, and the first ticket sale is today.

On the games themselves, it was in general a good fixture list, getting most difficult away trips sorted early, and if we do a good job in the more mundane games, we have a nice run in to take advantage of earlier results.

Unfortunately we have to go to both the main manc clubs after Christmas. But the first trip to mancland is to Burnley, a ground I've never liked us going to against a workmanlike, stubborn team, but it's a good trip to get out of the way early. The big prize of course is the last game at home for the first time in 3 years to a promoted, possibly relegated club, and an ideal fixture if a result is needed.

We are also the last club to play a home game this season, but Anfield may still see some action in August, if there's a home game in the League Cup. Overall, bar the 2 manc clubs, I'm happy enough with what we got. Let's take advantage of it now.

The last time we had the opening 3 games away from home started with Arsenal - we won 2-1 and walked the league...

Good being out of Europe isn't it and not needing our fixtures to be moved... oh wait.

Putting the New Year Eve game back a couple of hours as well might make things a bit of a ballache for some.

I'm sure the taxi drivers will be rubbing their hands together!

Moving the Boxing Day game back a day is a real shi**er though - is Liverpool v Stoke really a Christmas game for the TV or have they just done it to give us a day and a bit less rest before the Man City game - makes you wonder doesn't it.

No we can't do anything. January 2 is a bank holiday in the region next year, because January 1 is on a weekend.

In fairness, we got away with it last year with 4 days between Leicester and Sunderland when other clubs had to play twice in 48 hours. Now it's our turn, and we're one of 12 clubs who have to. Coaches may protest about it every year but in the UK, you play football during Christmas, some years you'll have to play twice in 48 hours and you have no choice but to adapt. It will never change.

Presents a huge gamble. Could lose against City (who have an extra day to prepare) and then go to Sunderland.

Could, repeat could, be a strategy to 'rest' some players for City. Calculation that the manager will have to make but it is some way off.

Unless Sunderland start playing a lot better then our b team should be able to beat them, but in any case I'd rather rest players against Sunderland than citeh.
