A wee surge from deeper in the midfield and more goal threat.

The question to me is whether he can do the tackling, pressing etc well enough to play as a CM. Not seen enough of him yet to say, but if he can then I think he will definitely make us harder to defend against by running into the box from deep when everybody else is being picked up.

He's clever with the ball, similar to Lallana. Very good close control. Which is crucial in CM these days. Especially in the way Klopp wants to play

He has played ONE game -give him time he might be great he might be rubbish

But he's certainly not a write-off like ALL of our players after one game

Along with Lallana, was doing his best Claude Raines impression in the first half. Improved a lot in the second half and ain't it nice to start to have options in our squad?

My personal statistics show that in 100% of his games with a red shirt this guy has failed to score a single goal.

Given he has played only one competitive game for us I'm not too sure where you are coming from with this?

Got an assist and generally was ok, not great. Not sure of our midfield a stats last season but I can't recall them offering up many goals or assists.

I'm sure he will approve as he settles in and learns Klopps methods, it would be surprising if he didn't imo.

Mane came in and showed instantly that he was going to add something we didn't have, speed and trickery on the wing. To me Gini is just another iteration of Milner, Henderson or maybe Lallana. Just dont see what he offers that we don't already have.

How much of Wijnaldum have you actually seen( aside from the few pre-season friendlies) that you are saying that he is an iteration of our current crop of midfielders? 

Clearly looked very keen to get forward which is great to have in a central midfielder for once.

Will reserve judgement until the squad is settled and he has had a run in the team.

Well considering we got few goals and assists from central midfielders last season, I'd say that Wijnaldum brings better contribution from CM.

I don't get why people get so concerned when someone doesn't fall all over themselves about a player. It's just my opinion, I haven't been impressed, it doesn't mean he won't be better eventually, but you can't tell me I should be impressed when I'm not.

Probably about as much as anyone else has seen him play that's trying to tell me how special he is. I'm only going off of what I have seen (limited barcodes affairs, preseason and one game, not to mention highlights of his). Is that ok or do I have to fulfill some sort of viewing requirement prior to forming my own opinion and posting it here?

I was delighted when we signed him and still am. Always stood out when I watched Newcastle last season in a crap team it has to be said. I do think he he better further up the pitch but I'm confident he can do a job in midfield.

A number of positions.

Hopefully just taking time to settle in, but has offered very little in the first 2 games. OK was a good assist at Arsenal for Lallana, but looks very lethargic for the "midfield controller", role.

Thanks for the video. Yes, a tap in but I like that he likes to go into their box. He will score goals for us, for sure once he finds his feet and improves the understanding with new teammates.
