ICC Game 1: Liverpool 0-1 Chelsea

I wasn't really impressed at all yesterday, but have to put it in context of preseason, Pasadena heat, not having the full squad, no one giving a sh*t, etc.

No idea why we went with Randall and Stewart to be honest, both have far from impressed.

Klavan looked decent from I have seen so far.

Still need to find more cutting edge and a left back.

Surprising isn't it? Craig actually played for Chelsea but has always said he was a Liverpool fan when he was a kid.

Anyone know what the F**k he was on about the young players and running around Southport and Ainsdale's sand dunes.  Must admit I got sick of his and Jon Champions "banter" when they were commentators on ESPN/Setanta's coverage of the Prem League from a couple of seasons back.

Weirdly I thought we looked better AFTER 65 mins and those six subs, but then I was still half-asleep.

Still surprised to see us starting with the likes of Stewart, Randall, Ejaria etc. Season starts in a fortnight.

I actually quite like Stewart, think he does a decent job as a defensive mid, I also get the feeling Jürgen quite likes him too, judging by the way he got games last season and is still a part of the main first team squad.

The lineup was mainly about who has been in training longer and able to play 60 minutes vs. those just in who can't yet. I think Wisdom and Markovic were the only two have been at Melwood for a month but didn't play the longer shift.

We looked pretty toothless in the highlights. Glad i didnt get up for it, about 2 shots on goal all game.

Well it's early and there's clearly plenty of work still to do to get to where we need.  At least that's how I'm going to approach things after this match...with that said, we continue to look frail defending from set pieces and conceded a woeful goal.  Still searching for answers in the final third and lacked any cutting edge offensively.  However, I did see a lot better job pressing and closing down without the ball, particularly by the attackers high up the pitch.  Hopefully that continues to progress as the boys find their fitness and get their shooting legs under them.  Will be interesting to see how the team comes together and all the new pieces fit in.  Hopefully we sort out our issues with our fullbacks soon!

Honestly, Lucifer himself would seem a nice bloke compared to Maureen!!  Can't stand that classless c**t.  He will fit in well at the toilet....

We need to experiment pre season so not so worried about the scoreline.

What I would like is a proven goalscorer up front when Sturridge isn't available. We have lots of potential, up and coming tallent in that role but no one that puts the fear into the opposition in my humble opinion.

Think that's the fact it was a friendly and the ref was dishing out cards like he was a Hallmark salesman!!

I don't think there was anything in the tweet that was malicious plus I don't want to see the game end up like the NBA.

Have just watched the full game and I have to say we were much the better team. Apart from their goal they never really threatened and with a bit of luck we could of had 2 at least. Only pre season I think we look in good shape. Still have Can, Clyne and Sturridge to come in. Positive. Ejaria looks a player

Agree with this.  Firmino is one of the players I think will struggle this term, but I hope I'm wrong. 

In any case, suggesting a player isn't good enough based on 30 minutes of a preseason game is a bit over the top....
