Plenty to consider after the flying start to the season at the Emirates.

The New Anfield stand means we will be playing this one away at Turf Moor where we have a decent record recently, hopefully we have improved from last season where a big win was followed by losing to some low to mid table team.

Interestingly will Klopp go with the 433 or revert back to 4231 as Burnley are not likely to be such a threat as the Arse and will likely sit back.

      I would go with;

      Migs
      Clyne
      Matip
      Klavan
      Milner

      Can
      Hendo

      Mane
      Firmino
      Couts

      Origi (Sturridge if fit)

Not sure why we'd put Milner there, but from all accounts in the media, it looks like he will play there this weekend.

As sh*t at he is, i'd keep Moreno there. The rest of your team is what i'd go with.

I would go with that team too mate, but I think Lallana will start, probably at the expense of Origi, but may even be Firmino who misses out.

Think we will get another 3 points here , winning comfortably enough 3-1.

It would be 'so' Liverpool-of-last-season to go out and lose this after beating a "big team".

      Not this time.

I really can't see Lallana or Wijnaldum being dropped, as much as I agree with the above teams I think it's going to be more:

                            Mignolet
       Clyne       Klavan      Lovren       Milner
                 Henderson     Wijnaldum
                             Lallana
             Mane       Sturridge      Coutinho

It's going to be tough keeping everyone happy this season. Klopp loves Lallana, he's just signed Wijnaldum and he can't really drop the captain (although he should never be captain, that's for another thread)

Firmino or Can could come in for Lallana and Wijnaldum but I don't see him changing it for this game.

Looking forward to this - we really look like we have goals in this team, only problem is that this is at both ends of the pitch.

I would take 1-2 here and all 3 points. I dont think this will be as open as the Arsenal and against the Swans they only leaked 1 in what was a tough game.

They will no doubt sit back and hit us on the break down the flanks (left back!) asking us to break them down. This was our problem last season as we huffed and puffed with no end product. Lets see if we have solved these problems - a quick goal would really help us, if we concede early this could be a long afternoon.

Win, lose, or draw our games are likely to be full of goals.  I think we will have too much for Burnley, but also won't be the least bit surprised if they bag 1 or 2 against us.  I'll go for a 4-2 win with the same 11 as Arsenal.

The nice thing is that, even if we go behind, under Klopp I actually believe we will still turn it around!!  Didn't always have that in recent seasons....

      Seriously, f**k off :(

Anyway, playing away to a newly promoted team and with Mane looking likely to miss this game, I want to see at least, 2 strikers (Origi, Ings or Sturridge) playing.

If Mane is out, I'd move Lallana up and bring Can into midfield. I'd also be starting Origi over Firmino. No need for a false 9 in this one.

Without Mane, we could stick with the false #9 and still play with 2 strikers -- Origi can play at LF and Studge can play RF:

      Migs
      Clyne - Lovren - Klavan - Moreno
      Can
      Lallana  -  Coutinho
      Studge - Firmino - Origi

      We'll outscore them 7-5!!!

Frank De Boer for some reason having a go at Klopp bcz of Liverpool injuries. Explains that if Jürgen did it Frank's way, apparently nobody would get injured.

Is Frank's way to have everyone sit on the couch and have a smoke?

That makes me wonder if Mane was injured during Klopp's famous "Collide" drill...

Hoping for the best re Sadio, the fact that he drove back to Melwood after scans seems like it should be a good sign. But he won't be the last injury this season. Truly nothing you can do about it.

Not sure about Lallana moving further up the pitch against lesser opposition. I prefer a player who'll make runs behind their defence (Sturridge, Origi or Ings), or a quick wide player to attack their full backs (Markovic/Ojo).

                     Migs
      Clyne Lovren Klavan Milner
                 Grujic Hendo
           Firmino Couts Lallana
                     Origi

This assumes Mane will miss out. Which would be a real pity, really good first match.
Would have Milner in ahead of Moreno, not ideal as he's not a FB, but anyway. Is Matip ready to come in, not sure.
Give Grujic a start ahead of Can - probably not likely to happen, but he's done OK when I've seen him so far, need to give the new lads a chance. Could he have more impact that Winjaldum did last weekend ... he'd have a good chance to. Need someone stamping their mark on a place in beside Hendo.
And then the front 4, same as last season.

Can see nothing but 3 points at Turf Moor, but we will need to keep our concentration and tight at the back please boys, Mane is a loss but we have enough in our squad for adequate cover.

One game at a time and this is the most important one....we'll think about Burton Albion after 5pm on Saturday  ;)

Will be threat at set pieces. We need to defend better.

At home though they should come out a bit more than if it was at Anfield, so hopefully we get and take chances when they come.

For 20 odd minutes on Sunday we annihilated Arsenal with 4 world class goals.
We had them on the ropes with our passing and movement and let's not forget, it was away from home against a top team.
It was brilliant to watch and we were unstoppable.

I don't see any reason why Jürgen will take the foot off the gas away at Burnley, newly promoted or not.

I can honestly see a piss taking 3-0 win.. could be more..
      I'm sorry, Burnley are sh*te !

Saturday afternoon kick off as well... nice change for once.. :)

What is Wijnaldum's best position - out wide left I suspect? I never saw much of him at Newcastle apart from the games he played against us last season (where he was pretty good..). It would be interesting to see how he'd do in his strongest position.

Yeh lets keep playing someone who is S**t  :f_steam:

Moreno is our only natural option and i really don't see why playing a 30-year-old right winger at left back has any long term benefit for us.

If short term goals are the objective of playing him there, we are in a transfer window and could find a solution from a natural replacement.

After our fantastic destruction of the Arse, I can't see us dropping any pts to Burnley, irritating to lose Mane we should still prove to powerful for Dych's battlers,

It's probable that Klopp will want the same intensity shown at the Emirates and given that Ojo is also out could we see Lazar come in for a hour, unlikely but still possible,

I'd be inclined to use a more experienced wide player first off and then see how the game develops, at ko I'd go with thus.....

                               Mignolet
            Clyne.  Lovren.  Klavan.  Milner
                                    Can
                  Henderson.  Wijnaldum
           Firmino.                        Coutinho
                                  Origi

Bench ;  Manninger,  Matip,  Stewart, Lallana,  Ings, Grujic, Markovic

Not sure if Sturridge is available if so Ings drops out unfortunately,
We need to sort out our defensive frailties asap, we cannot afford to keep shipping goals irrespective of how many we score up the other end,

Burnley are no pushovers and will pose a few problems but not so that will lose us points,

Bit of a litmus test is this one, last year we made a habit of achieving some fantastic results against the best sides and then following it up with poor performances against lesser sides. Fingers crossed it isn't some thing that will occur again this year. I think Mane is a big loss but hopefully either of Studge or Origi will feature so as to ensure we have some pace in the side. I fancy us to win a close one 2-1.

Don't care what's the score anymore. Just get a win and continue with the momentum. We must be cautious, no reason to underestimate Burnley. They're back in the PL and they would want to prove that they are worthy in the PL and will like to go all gung-ho attacking us early. We must start to counter attack with deadly effect and knock the sail out of them early. A winnable game but by no means easy meat. We must not be over-confident.

We will need to defend the long ball to Vokes and to defend the second ball when it drops they have no width so will aim to strike at Lovren and Set pieces and look to keep tight at back. We need to be patient in our build up flow and need pace to get round sides.

Other thank Mane being injured, I dont see the point in changing a winning team

i 100% wouldn't play Milner and Coutinho on the left. We'd have no width with Mane out and eveything would go through the middle. Would be a horrible game.

Agree, different proposition on Sat then vs Arse. They'll be up for the battle, likely be cautious and setup defensively to hit us on the break and at set pieces.
You'd hope we have the quality to punish them if we get chances, and defend better than we did the last day (back 4 will be interesting).
Also be curious to see if Wijnaldum starts alongside Hendo, or if it'll be Can or Grujic. Hope Grujic gets a run at some stage.
And if Mane doesn't start, expect Origi to ... so will leave him in my FF team .. cmon Divoc lad!
Looking forward to seeing how we deal with this one ...  hopeful of 3 more pts...

      Clyne - Lovren - Klavan - Moreno
      Can
      Lallana  -  Coutinho
      Studge - Firmino - Origi

I like this, very attack minded. Think i'd prefer to see Origi in the centre though, and Bob a bit wider.
Gone for 4 - 1 to the red men. Full of confidence for this. Must get a goal in the first 20 though to make it happen. Otherwise they'll park the bus ! Ive put them in to score, due to the complimentary Migs howler. If not Migs, Moreno. Gonna happen aint it !   :confused-smiley-013:

I think the losing to lesser sides is a mental thing which the players take on. Its like, " oh its only them, we beat city last week, we can stroll through this one'. And BANG ! its all over befe we get in second gear. If Klopp has them ready to go from the off 100% there's not many sides who would live with us, we just don't get going sometimes, and I think, it's because they think, It's gonna be a stroll !
Perhaps we should warm all the lads up pre match on training bikes like the egg chasers do. Then they'll go on at 100% every game instead 75/80 % occasionally.

I think Klopp will have drilled the defence after arsenal and they don't have much going forward but I think they'll be hard to break down and we'll need to patient.

Got enough quality to see us through though, I'm going 2-0 to us.

I'm sure there is an element of that mate but I think it also had a lot to do with how the bigger sides. Look to play, they like to play thought the thirds, play out from the back and pass it about. Juergen's pressing game is built to spoil teams who like to play this way, the lesser sides are often happier to get it forward more quickly, bypass the press and play more of a power game (as Watford did to us last season). The challenge I think will be dealing with the this approach.

Subs- Manninger, Matip, Trent AA, Grujic, Hendo, Ings, Studge || No Moreno in the squad please, he might be infectious!

1-3 to us! 1 each for Origi, Firmino and Studge

Don't get dropping Henderson, the best of our midfielders against Arsenal.

Milner back and probably the captain. Origi for Mane and Can for Hendo.

      Origi
      Phil Firmino
      Gini Can Lallana
      Milner Klavan Lovren Clyne
      Migs

Subs- Manninger, Matip, Trent AA, Grujic, Hendo, Ings, Studge || No Moreno in the squad please, he might be infectious!

1-3 to us! 1 each for Origi, Firmino and Studge

Replace Hendo with Lallana and there is the lineup I hope.

A good formation but I don't fancy Migs up front!9

Agreed, I know a lot of people think this should be an easy win but it is one of those typical banana skin games. They've a great record at home and it will be no easy task but I believe we will win and hopefully in the process move to the top of the league!

Huge game, like every one of our league games are this season, win this and the momentum/belief etc starts to build, smash 'em lads!

Don't think Flanagan is fit but anyway...

I was under the impression the Premier League loan rule had changed - that loaned players could play against their own club now.

The reason being that it favoured the big clubs who could loan out valuable players and then disrupt the opposition because they would have to change their team against them.

      Anybody confirm either way?

Hendo plays, if Lallana is part of the front-3 but both him and Klopp are relishing his midfield role.

Replace Hendo with Lallana and there is the lineup I hope.

Lallana is definitely playing mate. No doubt about that. I'm guessing we'll mirror the formation we had for Barca, Origi/Studge for Mane the only change from that.

Great to have the reds back in action again! Obviously we can't afford to take anything for granted. How many of these games have we dropped points in? However they were very uninspiring against Swansea. They are a no nonsense team they focus on the basics and largely do that well. Last week they lined up in a rigid 4-4-2:

I can see this being our first encounter with a team happy to sit in for 90 mins and play for a draw. They were second to Swansea in everything last week, they had less possession, fewer touches, fewer chances, fewer shots... They were happy for Swansea to have the ball and didn't look threatening when they had it themselves. However it was the 82nd minute before Swansea scored so they know their roles, and they will be even tighter today you would imagine.

They have record signing Steven Defour to come in, and I believe Jones has joined Sheffield Wednesday this week so that should be a straight swap in mid field. I don't think they can play Flanagan today which suits us perfectly if they have to play Ward at LB again. He has never been a very good LB but he is coming to the end of his career, pace and movement will kill him!

For 20 mins last week we looked unstoppable, however outside of that 20 min spell we showed too many mistakes. No manager in their right mind is going to ignore Moreno, expect them to hit our left side early and put pressure on Moreno. For that I think it is very important who we put in mid field to get over and support. I think the midfield need to support him more than whoever we play on the LW as I think we need to be ready to punish their commitment forward with quick counter play, and I would rather have our forward players up the pitch ready to pounce. I think Henderson showed he is getting back to his better form, and he has the engine to get around and help Moreno out, and I think he is the best player we have to spray the , and a deeper lying role gives him more of the pitch n front of him to pick those passes.

The back 5 pick themselves really, same as last week. I don't see it being a midfield battle but I do see the players we pick being key to how we break down a solid unit. Like I say, I would like to see Henderson as the holding unit, with Wijnaldum and Can ahead of him. I think last season we were too guilty of over playing the ball against deep lying teams, passing ourselves into dead ends. I think two more direct midfielders will look to break the lines with runs and a few strong shots. With the right mix up front it can give us some unpredictability and more option in attack.

Mane will be a huge loss but we're in a very strong position with replacements that we haven't had in a while. Personally I would like to see Origi come in, supported by Coutinho and Firmino, but I can see Klopp starting Lallana instead of either Firmino or Origi. I would like to see Ings get some sort of a run out too, although I am guilty of a certain amount of sentimentality that Klopp will not suffer from.

I'd also like to see Grujic get a look in, he showed glimpses in pre season that he likes to take a gamble in the box and this might be the exact type of game for him.

I think it will be a very one sided match with us dominating possession. But Burnley will be tough to break down. I think we have a good mix of players this year to be more ruthless in these games and we have more physicality in the squad so we shouldn't be getting bullied either. I think Ward is a huge weak link for them, the front three can take turns interchanging and playing on him and if Sturridge is available he can deal the killer blow with fresh legs late on. I think we're good enough to ge the win and the clean sheet here, but we will have to work for it. I'm going to say 2-0 to the reds, Origi and Wijnaldum.
