I did used to agree with that, but increasingly I see it as 'just an anomaly.'  I actually think it provided the motivation (and the TV cash the means) for Chelsea, MUFC, MCFC to say, 'Right, no more messing about," and seriously go and buy big.  They decided there'd be no repeat of the Leicester season, and I don't expect there will be.  Arsenal ambled up their usual blind alley, and they might say so did LFC!

I'd love us to win the PL in the manner of Ranieri's boys, but we won't.  We don't have the players to achieve that consistency.  Money talks, 99 times out of 100.  I am very wary of this Chinese group's motivation and intent (and FSG's), although without serious expenditure, we will see the rest disappear.  Let's spend the TV money and the Benteke cash well before we allow 'Made In China' stamped all over us.  We have a position as a respected and honourable community football club that defines a huge part of the city's soul.  Let's guard that with our lives, while we still have it!

So you would like FSG to change the habit of a lifetime (which is what it feels like).

The thing with Chinese takeovers is that although you're satisfied at the time, half an hour later you're starving for something else......

Or is that a takeaway  :f_doh:

It is a clear indication that FSG  don't have the  financial muscles  to take us  to the next level .The  expansion  of the stadium  have  already drilled big holes in  the pockets. They are looking   for  help  , if it is not the Chinese  I hope   anybody can  come  to the rescue.

I'm not sure that Klopp is the man for the job, anyway. If he believes Henderson, Lucas Lieva and a few others are fit & proper to make LFC successful, then he does not know the game.

No matter what money can buy, if you buy the wrong type of player, there is no prospect of any success. What LFC have bought so far, in my opinion, do not measure up to the task. We have to wait to judge all of Klopp's latest acquisitions, if they were his decision to buy.

A note : No matter how you spell certain names, they still remain unfit for purpose.

       :lmao: :lmao:

'Doesn't know the game'. And so it starts!

Been doing a bit of digging around it there's this gentleman Simon Chadwick

      www.policyforum.net/the-long-ball-game/

Said he used to work for Everbright and that it's a real offer, they know what they want and how to get it, and it's a case of not if but when they hook up with FSG. Then it's about the size of the stake.

Prof Simon Chadwick ‏@Prof_Chadwick  Aug 22
@FdeGongora Agreed. I've done some work with Everbright. They know what they want & they know how to get it.

@Corballyred @FdeGongora If you want my view, it's an issue of when not if. And then issues are size of stake & price paid. Just my opinion.

Corbs is our man on the trail!

Chadwick seems to write a bit about this China footy topic

@001Haz The approaches I know of were from Liu (ignored by FSG) and Everbright/CIC (taken seriously)

Same guy who writes for the Anfield Wrap unless I'm mistaken

Still digging around and I'd say there's definitely legs in this one.

This is going to sound so cliche but (and I am not kidding and not trying to be 'ITK') I contacted one reporter (I'll call him Jim) of a certain website who said in his online article that sources told him the article by ibtimes (I think that's them), revealing that Everbright had come out and said they are not in any talks with FSG are in fact not true.

I got a bit miffed because the title of Jim's article was something like "Everbright confirm they are in talks with FSG", but when I read the article I saw no quotes by any source from Everbright, and so contacted Jim to ask him outright if this was true - if there was an Everbright source and if that source had contacted them and told them the ibtimes article was bogus.

Not only did he say it was true, he also said the Everbright 'source' came to him to put the record straight.

Read into that what you will, but most are now running with the Everbright connection.

EDIT: Or, I might be about to learn a very hard lesson in life
