Derby County 0-3 Liverpool: In game and Post Match discussion
      Sep 20, 2016 07:09:11 pm
Grujic makes first start, Firmino returns v Derby

Marko Grujic makes his first competitive start for Liverpool after being named in the starting XI for tonight's EFL Cup clash with Derby County.

The Serbian has thus far only appeared as a substitute for the Reds, but has been given the chance to impress from the off in this evening's third-round fixture at the iPro Stadium.

As promised by Jürgen Klopp in his pre-match media briefing, Loris Karius is also handed his official bow, coming in for Simon Mignolet between the sticks.

The manager makes seven changes in total from Friday's trip to Chelsea, with Roberto Firmino returning after overcoming the minor groin injury that kept him out of that 2-1 win.

There is also a place on the bench for Emre Can, who is back in training having overcome the ankle problem that has disrupted his start to the season.

TEAM: #DCFC starting XI vs @LFC: Mitchell, Christie, Keogh (C), Bent, Baird, Johnson, Pearce, Butterfield, Hughes, Weimann, Olsson

TEAM: #DCFC substitutes vs @LFC: Weale, Ince, Camara, Blackman, Lowe, Elsnik, Rawson

Tonights game is the 300th of Clyne's career.

No injuries, no extra time, no penalty shoot out.

Straightforward 3-0 win Coutinho, Origi, Grujic.

Very strong line-up that, should do these comfortably I hope.

Great to see Grujic and Karius get their competitive debuts, surprised Can isn't starting, clearly further away from full fitness than I had thought. Sure he'll get some time though, would love Ejaria and Ings to get some time too.

Thought Ings might have been in contention to start this with Origi's poor showings recently, lad needs a performance tonight or I think he is due to climb down the ladder a rung.

      4-0 to the Redmen!!

Looking forward to seeing Grujic and Origi start.

      I'm going for a comfortable 3-0 or a 3-1

According to the echo he's recovering from a 'back fracture'?
I put my prediction in a while back and have gone for a 4-1 win to the red men!

Yes the last twice he's come on he's look ordinary at best. I'm not too worried as he started last season looking bloody awful and then was brilliant, but as it stands with the form Ings is apparently showing he must be close to forcing his way ahead of Divock.

I like that line up. Should be a routine win all going well. I really hope Moreno has a good game tonight. I feel for the chap.

Yeah I'd like to see Ings play too but to be fair to Origi he hasn't had more than half an hour in the league all season. He'll be in amongst it tonight I reckon

If he doesn't even get on today then I don't think he will be here after January!

I think Ings may well get a few minutes tonight, but I think Jürgen sees him very much as a fourth choice striker behind Sturridge, Firmino and Origi.

Not sure what you've been watching mate but he's had 93 minutes in total and it was almost an entire half last game when Studge went off early.
