Firmino was excellent and much has been said about Lucas.

My old favourite and put in another great shift last night with the smile on his face .

Here was the difference.
He anticipated brilliantly the break by Bent and was off his line like a rocket to close him down and clear the ball. Bent is no lightweight either.

You just know Migs would have stayed rooted to his line in panic at that point with defenders trying to save the day for him.


Moreno got a big Klopp hug at the end.

What does Jürgen know that we don't ?  He obviously has faith in the lad.

Didn't see any of the game but how did Moreno and the new keeper play.

I gave MOTM to Lucas and while Firmino was very good I feel that Lucas' control in midfield is what led to our sustained pressure and kept the ball in high areas for the likes of Firmino. I also forgot just how good his range of passing can be from that CM role. Every year he comes within an inch of leaving and every year he makes me happy he's stayed, without being world class/phenomenal... what a player!?

Same here. Lucas MOTM for me although others like firmino and coutinho were close by for me

I only saw the last 15 mins, but neither did well in that period.

Moreno wasn't all that great and failed badly in a glory shot attempt. Meanwhile, Karius followed the Mignolet passing game, and flapped badly at a corner which Derby really should have scored from.

That said, no one played well in that final 15. I clearly missed all the good stuff!!

It'll take some time for Karius. Interrupted pre-season and only back a week ago.

Haven't seen any of the game but listened to it on the radio. It sounded like we played second gear football in that we were never in any danger and could have stepped the pace up if and when we wanted to.

A 3-0 win away at a championship side in the cup is an impressive result.

Well done lads, starting to put a nice run together now.

Great night, great atmosphere, my first away game this season, travelling kopites were buzzing and we never stopped singing all game 

Didn't really need to be in top gear to beat these, we actually could have had a hatful if we'd tried, but 3 goals away and a clean sheet is just what we need, looking forward to the draw tonight to see who we get.

It was good to see some fringe players get some game time last night, overall impressed with the organisation of the team, lost our way a bit during the last 15mins and gave away some sloppy passes, but by then we'd got the game tucked away, looking forward now to smashing Hull on Saturday

Over the 90 Karius looked very composed, his distribution was excellent and the one break that Derby had he did brilliantly to run out and stop Bent running on goal.

Moreno also put in a very encouraging performance. His positional sense was much better and transitioning from attack to defending was excellent.

From what i've seen Karius looks more assured with the ball at his feet than Mings, even with that under-hit pass.

Not only that, the crowd feels more assured when he's on the ball. No one has any faith in Mignolet and he should be taken out of the team until such time as Karius under performs.

Felt he looked more confident with the ball at his feet, and he seems to play a much higher line.

Good confidence building game for the lads.
They never really had to get out of 2nd gear, Matip continues to impress, Karius had a decent debut.
Put Lucas as MOTM, for his distribution. He switched the play well, always kept the ball moving forwards and rarely misplaced a pass.

Both were good, Karius had one flap at a cross and made one great interception on a dangerous through ball, overall he looked very solid but in truth had almost nothing to do all match. Moreno also looked very solid, both going forwards and defending. All in all it was a very good solid team performance against fairly weak opposition and at times we ran rings around them.

Walk in the park, never really threatened, but you can only beat what's in front of you, well done

How did Gruic do in the game? Didn't get to watch a stream so wondered. He looked boss in pre season so wondering if he is one to look at as potentially a starter second half of season??

Really good sign we are swatting these teams aside.  Hopefully we can continue same with the 'lesser' sides in the PL.  Just watched the goals on youtube and from the posts on here, sounds like we were comfortable.

I'm starting to see us dispatching this "Giant killing" myth which I'm sure is built in to Jürgen's philosophy.
There's a hunger to impress from the squad players when asked to deliver.. I like that a lot !

Like my missus, we never get the gear to fourth as if my picanto will fly Obviously when she drives it, the consumption of my fuel is increased drastically.
