Gonna be in the Kop for the first time this season. Can't wait!

I'm looking forward to three visits to Wembley, so we better win this one!

Irrespective of what competition we are in the focus has to be to win and progress. We can afford to play some of our younger lads knowing they will not let us down.

I'm expecting plenty of changes for this one, whatever team we pick we should win.

      I'd go with:

      Karius

      Alex-Arnold
      Gomez
      Lucas (c)
      Moreno

      Emre Can
      Stewart
      Grujic

      Woodburn
      Origi
      Ojo

Subs: Mignolet; Matip, Klavan; Wijnaldum, Ejaria, Wilson; Firmino.

I'm fine with this team considering the League Cup semifinal is 4 days later, but I do not expect it. I also think Grujic is still out so you'd likely see Ejaria starting (probably see Ejaria starting before Woodburn as well).

I honestly think the FA Cup teams he chose last year were largely a product of wanting to see a number of players in action with an eye toward roster decisions for the summer. Look at the team selected for the 3rd round replay vs. Exeter last January, compared to their status this year:

Mignolet (In), Randall( forgotten), Ilori (on his way), Enrique (out), Smith (sold), Brannagan (injured but not featuring), Allen (sold), Stewart (backup), Ibe (sold), Teixeira (out), Benteke (sold).

Subs: Bogdan (loaned/out), Flanagan (loaned), Kent (loaned), Sinclair (out), Ojo (injured), Maguire (U23s), Chirivella (U23s).

Ojo's performance will be intensely monitored, if he can stay fit and put on a show this weekend he will make the bench for the next month I think. He is the closest player to Mane right now.

Rest some starting XI and give subs some playing time. Want Karius to have a cleansheet with Gomez and TAA.

I'd like to see our less used players get some game time but worry we might slip up.

      Karius
      TAA Gomez Klavan Moreno
      Lucas
      Grujic Ojeria
      Ojo Origi Woodburn

But I expect some more experienced additions being thrown in there

I think both this and the Southampton game will see an even mix of experience and youth.  You may get 6 first teamers in one and 5 in for the midweek semi-final 1st leg.

I don't expect all the kids to play in one or the other.  Not even sure it's a good idea for the keeper to get a fortnight off before United.

Just to say I expect Jürgen to go very strong for the League Cup semi, so if any youngsters are going to play it will likely be in this game.

Also - are you all expecting Karius to play in this one? I'm not sure about that.

      Origi
      Woodburn Wilson
      Gini Stewart Ejaria
      Moreno Klavan Lucas TAA
      Karius

Subs- Mignolet, Gomez, Clyne, Can, Lallana, Firmino, Ojo

Excluding Lovren, that's just the boys who are available. Damn! We are well and truly short. a very depleted squad. Hope Milner and Studge recover for the Saints game, along with Matip and Cou!

Would be good to see Wilson rewarded for his fine form in the under-23's. With him not training with the first team all that much though (if at all) it'd seem a bit of a surprise to see him start.

I understand the reasoning behind wanting to go for it with a strong team but with Southampton coming up in midweek and us having played 2 games in 48 hours with most of that team I think we should rotate a bit more.

Is Coutinho training yet? Maybe 15 minutes for him on Sunday, a bit longer against Southampton and a start away at the Mancs?

Think we'll see Ejaria and Ojo from the start and Woodburn from the bench.

Against Plymouth at home, are you insane?? No my friend if there was ever a good opportunity to rest some players and blood some of the youngsters/reserves then this is it, but we should have the key senior guys on the bench just in case.

Going off last seasons FA Cup team sheets I can't see many, if any, of our regular starters playing this one.

Sturridge, if fit maybe or possibly Origi if not.

Lucas alongside Gomez at CB, TAA and Moreno at FB and Karius in goal.

Stewart, maybe Can and Ejaria in midfield with Ojo and Woodburn flanking the striker.

Cou is back in full training so might get some minutes off the bench.  Matip expected to be back in full training in the next couple of days so won't make it.

We've just finished a gruelling run of games with another huge semi final away 3 days after this followed by the scummy mancs 4 days later.

Our youngsters helped by 4 or 5 seniors should be enough to dispatch a league 2 side.

Good news and hopefully he will get some minutes to grow into it again, so that he can be a real factor in the Utd. game again.

Is Woodburn fit and available? Wouldn't mind him getting some game time either.

Origi to start i'd say and we can be out of sight by HT.

Be interesting the team that gets put out in this one and the EFL Cup game afterwards. We should really have a squad to cope with all these fixures without suffering a huge dip in quality but the fact is we haven't, so Jürgen will have to find a balance of us qualifying through the cup games, while keeping a bit in reserve for United away and Chelsea at home.

In the mean time, I think we will get past these with a weaker team, but I am worried about Southampton because they will be at full strength.

Should be a comfortable passage to the next round, play a fairly strong side. The first semi final against Southampton only a few days away.
