Pre Match: Southampton v Liverpool (LC Semi Final 1st Leg - 11th Jan 2017 19:45)

What a difficult team to pick. We need to be as fresh as possible for Sunday and the last thing we need are any more injuries. This is a massive game though, a semi final, and its important that we get a good result tonight. Southampton are a very good side and I don't think Jürgen has any other option than to field a stronger team than what we saw play Plymouth.

I could care less about Sunday now...this is a Semi Final and a chance to get silverware, so for me it takes priority.
Full strength team for tonight, get the result we need...then worry about Sunday afterward.

Go full strength, we have enough time to recover from the Manc game...

Typical of Man Utd to play Hull..  and an injury hit Hull at that... and then enjoy an extra days rest before our game.

Meanwhile we play Southampton (who are considerably a better side) and we clearly have to put out a much better side. Utd have the advantages, but we have to do what we do. Go out there tonight with a strong team - win - and then go out there ready to beat Utd.

Somebody has to play Hull, they just got the luck of the draw on this occasion. Aside from Northampton they've played all Premier League teams so far and will do in the final. We've had 3 Championship teams plus Spurs (where we both played back ups) so it's not as though we've had a hard draw up until now.

Yep, that's the perfect 11 right now.

Both further behind Milner and Coutinho in recovery.

Is Hendo going to be out of the Manc game (please god no).

I expect Jürgen to go with his strongest XI both tonight and vs. United. It may not be the same XI due to fitness, but there should be no choosing of one vs. the other.

And I hope he goes with Mignolet in goal...for both.

Then go with the backups in the Cup replay.

Would go with a mix of first XI and 'FA cup players', go for a win (but prob take a draw), with an eye on the big game against the toileters at the weekend, then do Southampton in the return game.  Hope to see Cou get a run, tough one though, if Jürgen hopes to play him vs Manure, do you give him some time tonight, or not risk him and have his return at the weekend..

You want pace yet drop Origi, who outside of Mane is our quickest player!

There is no dilemma, our first team has not played in ages, they are the only option tonight, they will be the only option against United. United is 4 days away!

I would expect something like that

There's no reason we can't play full strength in both of our next two games. We don't play until Sunday so they'll have a few days rest and the starters wouldn't have played for a couple of weeks by the time we play Man United if we don't go full strength tonight. That's not the condition we want the players to be in going into such a big game.

The senior players have had a good break with the Argyle game and should be able to handle the two games tonight and weekend.

Its what we always did . Play two games a week .   
We haven't any European distractions so man up and crack on.

Think Couts has to play s part tonight if he's expected to perform on Sunday. It's clear he's gonna need some game time prior to a big match after being out for 6 weeks.
Needs at least 45 tonight.

Looks a very strong line-up. Pleased to see coutinho on the bench, hopefully Jürgen gives him at least 20 minutes game time.
