A trio of Premier League sides dispatched scouts to run the rule over Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar at the weekend.
The likes of Manchester United and City, along with Liverpool, all wanted to know how the Holland international is performing.
They are unlikely to be have been disappointed with Huntelaar after he netted a brace in Ajax's convincing 6-1 romp over AZ Alkmaar.
Huntelaar, 24, has been capped nine times by his country and has an impressive 55 goals from just 66 appearances for the Amsterdam giants following his switch from Heerenveen.

Great scoring record howver so did Dirk Kuyt in the Dutch league. But I think Huntelaar is more of a predator in front of goal.

Loan move for Dirk back to Ajax or Fejnoord, sign Huntelaar, drop Babel in behind him and Torres, Stevie G on the right, Kewell on the left, Mash behind him and robert is your fathers brother.

Theres no doubting his ability its a question of how much money the tight arse pair of yankees are prepared to part with in the pursuit of perfection???

huntelaar is a great striker but is verey expensive

I think he would be a descent signing. Read in the croatian paper Ajax are asking 15-16 million euros for him, which i think if we are to challenge anything this season the Yank scum need to dish out.

15-16 million Euro's? thats a steal. If we lose out to him to Scum, then Benzema should be our next target.

Dirk did have a good record in the Dutch league because he played as a box striker, like Huntelaar. Problem is if Huntelaar is asked to do the same thing Dirk is asked to do.

3 Dutchmen up front if this goes through..would have been quite some squad in the 80's.

I watched the replay last night of the Ajax AZ game. He looks a really good player. Plus his first name is klass......

wasnt kuyty the leading scorer in Holland or one of them anyway when we signed him? Theres no guaruntee that this lad will be as prolific here as in Holland

Same as kezman. But he was poo at chelsea. But this fella does look the real deal. Strong, can score in and out the box and can use his head. $10m would be a bargain

$10 million is by far a bargain mate. If your talking USD thats 5 million pounds! If your talking AUD, thats 4.5 million pounds.

His goal ratio is great in holland but look at the level of the opponents..... I think this was the case for Kuyt.... Great record but poor opposition...

Im not very convinced about David Villa either.... but this is only my opinion... We need a good old fasioned English Striker who is strong powerful and doesnt go to ground easy.. (I put the last bit in to leave Heskey out of this catergory)

Goal Ratio means nothing. Look at Fernando and how he settled, he had a pretty poor goal ratio at Atletico compared to other top strikers but has become a revelation for us.

Maybe..... but Klass Huntelaar isnt 19 years old captain of his club with the fans expectations resting solely on his shoulders... We musnt forget that as much as a revelation Torres has been, he himself said on joining that it was a "priveledge and a relief to sign for liverpool"  Im not having a dig and admit you raise an excellent point. But this situation is more similar to Kuyt....
