      Radiohead appreciation thread
      Feb 03, 2008 12:07:37 pm
Long been a fan of the band but I am still to see them live. The following is what I posted on my blog about recent performances by Radiohead.

Thought a thread in appreciation for one of the best ground breaking bands to come from the UK since maybe the Beatles would be good on the forum ;D

Radiohead - Bodysnatchers (Scotch Mist Version)
Radiohead - Weird Fishes/Arpeggi (Scotch Mist Version)
      Radiohead - all scotch mist
Posted February 2, 2008 by DM Osbon at http://sweetflag.wordpress.com/2008/02/02/radiohead-all-scotch-mist/

After last nights amazing performance on Later with Jules Holland(show 200) & the awe inspiring CD release, In Rainbows, I did a little digging on youtube & it didn’t take me long to find a collection of performances on Radiohead’s own channel(http://youtube.com/user/radiohead). They are listed as the Scotch Mist Versions & give us a unique experience of the songs from In Rainbows.

To me it looks an official channel on youtube & I don’t doubt that Radiohead would promote themselves like this on the internet, not after releasing In Rainbows as an online download before it even seen the light of CD marketing.

Radiohead have surprised my recently in a very good way. I had fallen out of love with music over the last 5 or so years & it is seldom that I excited by anything I hear but In Rainbows is such a great return to form for Radiohead that I’d love to see them live. They are one of the only bands that I have liked over a period of time that I haven’t yet been to see in a live performance.

I've always missed the boat with these but like what few songs I have heard. Will have to 'purchase' some Radiohead sounds....

Nice one mate. Will check them out. Liking that tune that's been getting played on the radio lately 'Jigsaw Falling Into Place'.

I really don't like their music at all. Having said that I really respect what they have done for music and the independent music scene. Although DIY is quite hard when you're a smaller band.

Sound band, some tracks are more instant than others but the thing is you want to replay those tracks because you know it's quality and worth the time.

BBC 4 were showing their 1997 Glastonbury performance the other night and it was excellent.

      Still on iplayer I think.

Great band. The Bends is one hell of an album but their last album The King Of Limbs was utter gash even after a few listens. Codex is really good though. The only problem I have with them post 2000 is why is melody such a crime?

This keeps popping up in my 'unread topics' and I just have to come in here and say this as I keep seeing it.

      I. Hate. Radiohead.

Too boring/depressing I think, but that's just me I guess, I could be wrong. Weird thing is they are a band that my friends expect me to like. One thing I do like is Thom Yorke's battle against Prince about YouTube's privacy laws!

I know where you're coming from. Unlike most I don't think OK Computer or Kid A are anywhere near the finest albums created (even though The Bends was the best thing they made). Beautiful sounding albums though. After Kid A Amnesiac was pretty good. But after that it got so tiresome and boring. I feel they are vastly overrated but they definitely did have something great about them certainly in the 90s. A nice alternative to Oasis. Although in my opinion nothing Radiohead produced beat the greatness of a Definitely Maybe by Oasis, The Stone Roses self titled debut LP or The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths!
