Two players, first & third, in the top 10 scorers in the Premier League.  Only one player, Lukaku, has appeared in as few a games as Sturridge, which is only one less than Suarez.

Three of our players are in the top 10 assists charts, Suarez, Gerrard and Henderson.

We also have three players in the top 10 for sots per game, Suarez, Sturridge & Coutinho.  Suarez is averaging 6.4 per game, Aguerro, in 2nd place has only 4.1 per game.

Again we have three players, this time in the top 10 for passing accuracy. Sakho, Skrtel & Lucas.  Arsenal do have four of the ten though.

Only one player in the top 10 tackles per game list, but it is Lucas and he leads the way.  He's also our only player on the interception chart, in 8th.

Lucas (2.1 per game) also appears in the Top 10 for foul given against chart.  He gets stick for this, he's not our only player in the top 10 though, step forward Luis 'Bite your legs' Suarez, who gives away 2 a game.

Martin Skrtel sitting 2nd in the clearance charts, on 10.2 per game. though he his joint top scorer.....in the own goal charts.

We're also through ball kings, 4 of the top 10 are our players, Suarez, Gerrard, Coutinho and Sturridge.

Often debated, who is the best LFC manager?

My stats indicate it was Phil Thompson with Roy Hodgson as the worst. Don't agree? Here's my calculations.... http://www.excel-with-data.co.uk/football-stats/liverpool-s-best-manager

Read a stat today (not sure where) that in recent years all but one team (Spurs) winning 21 games in a season have been in the top 4.  We need to win half our games from here in to win 21 in the season.

this is exciting to see.  SaS if they can stay healthy and stay hot.... should destroy those numbers

whatever happens however, there will always be the what ifs.  What if suarez didnt sit off for 5 games due to his ban or sturridge missing a month due to injury.   Heck for all we know, they could've beat the record by now

      Kenny and Rushie's best year 83/83 Kenny 18 Rush 24 = 42
Aldridge and Beardsley 87/88 Aldridge 26 Beardsley 15 = 41  Barnes also scored 15 goals
      Barnes and Rush                   89/90 Barnes 22 Rush 18 = 40
      Kenny and David Johnson 78/79 Kenny  21 Johnson 16 = 37
      Kenny and David Johnson 79/80 Kenny 16  Johnson 21 = 37

Ian Stjohn and Roger Hunt 61/62 Stjohn 18 Hunt 41 =  59 (second division)
      Ian Stjohn and Roger Hunt 63/64 Stjohn 21 Hunt 31 = 52

Those kind of figures aren't impossible, even the 59 goals, pretty amazing when you think of the injuries or suspensions each player has had.

It makes me think we certainly shouldn't underestimate the quality of our two strikers, they're standing up well even against some of our best names historically.

Also, when you look back through the years at the quality we've had up top, it reminds me of the quote I've often seen Huyton Red use, the one about Liverpool never having a problem replacing strikers!

Yeah, we have always seemed to have great strikers. Looking back at the goals scored, the main difference now is we don't have a third or fourth goalscorer getting double figures from midfield as we had in the past with Souness, McDermott, Whelan, Kennedy, Molby, Barnes etc

Gerrard may reach double figures but only if we get a lot of penalties.

      Bang on Saint.
Even a third just to get a few more to get us over the line.
      This transfer window.

Even the scum and 'arry at the Spurs had four strikers that could be rotated ...notwithstanding midfield.
      Proven players.

Yeah, had the same thought actually.

It's where we've suffered (generally speaking) more recently, with obviously the odd exception like the season under Rafa where we scored well over 100 goals.

Definitely feels like we get less goals from defenders and central midfielders than we used to be able to rely on.

Just waiting now for another stat to prove me wrong!  :D

Only once in the past 14 seasons has the team who finished 4th had more points at this stage of this season than we have got.
