I presume it's Pleat your talking about. He's an absolute idiot and I'm convinced he now does this on purpose.

In my opinion he is the worst pundit on TV and can't belive he is getting paid to talk so much rubbish.

Funny thing is, I was driving back from my uncles not long after the Holland - Italy game kicked off and Alan Green called one of the dutch players Van Basten.  :D

Loads of commentators get things wrong. And sometimes it can have you laughing your head off.

But it gets annoying when the likes of Clive Tildsley on ITV starts going on about the mancs or how many times he mentions how nice the restaurant was that he had some food in before the game, when he's actually commentating on a game!

Commentators are the worse part of the game. They come out with stupid comments, surely they are not needed?

You can always turn the volume down? I'd say some of their biased comments aren't needed sometimes. Or some of the sh*te that they talk. But there's always some good commentating on football to outway the bad.

No I like to listen to the atmosphere (so I'd rather just try and ignore the commentator)

There was a thing you could do on BBC games showsn live, press red button and turn commentry off it was brilliant!

Lawrenson always come out with awkward comments that he thinks are funny.

Pleat is an idiot and cannot pronounce any player's name.

My fave commentator would be either Martin Tyler or Andy Gray because they tend to know what they are talking about.

arr no way, andy gray THINKS he knows what hes talking about and hes generally a negative tw*t.
plus he always refers to the players as if they are his best mates e.g stevie g and yak, when everybody else says gerrard and yakubu.

Motty practically has kittens when a sub's being made! Can be funny, but equally annoying.

Andy Gray is a class A gobs***e. The way he carries on you'd think he'd won more than ten league titles and more than five European cups - in the same season. He does make some valid points sometimes, but that's only when Liverpool score and he says it was a good goal... And we can't forget the 'game, well and truly over'.

      Running Late? Yes I am!!

Commentators? You should be glad that you do not have to put with Archie 'Woof' McPherson. He really is very bad! As are most of the commentators in Scotland, where they seem to be forcing out an extremely stiff turd most of the time.

However, Mr Motson does extract the urine, he becomes overly excited, esp when Germany are losing or not 'doing well'. M Lawrenson (Rep of Ireland fame!!!) also bores me to death. Mr Hansen? Can GTF. Why does the EBC insist on having 'pundits' that are 'cheeky or good' in interviews?( Strachan/ O'Neill). I'm sure that a few people would be able to elaborate on above, more than myself.

I also do not see the point of TV companies paying for a fans' point of view, which is what a pundit essentially is doing... stating the obvious.

The commentary for the Liverpool games lately have been diabolical.

I watch the games on Supersport from South Africaand we get the international feed meaning the commentators are usually SKY for the EPL and ITV for the cup matches (I assume). Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching the same game as them!!

I dunno if its just me being a biased liverpool fan. Just wandaring if I have any one else feels the same...

"Are Liverpool playing for draw here?" - ITV commentators when we played Reading.

Got to ignore them. Some of them can be ok, (the Setanta/ESPN guys are actually very good) but ITV and Sky are usually shocking. ITV especially.

The best thing to do with commentators is kill the sound on the TV. You can see what they see and can make a better judgement than their biased take on events, the only pundit worth listening to is Alan Hansen.

To be fair. I've had Martin Tyler's commentary for decades and he is clearly the best.

Yes he does go nuts over the scum, but many a time he has had an orgasm over Stevie G's pearlers. I think he is the most unbiased commentator out there.

You might as well add your own mate, the sound you hear on recorded games is a mish mash of crowd noise anyway
For live games any background noise is an improvement on the commentary drivel.

Actually a quote from the brains at ITV during one of our games in Europe:
"Crouch is playing like a rampaging super-spider!"

      Uhhh, what?   ???

I watched the Chile vs Ecuador last night on a stream and I had to mute it because the co-commentator was so F***ing annoying. His name is Ray Hudson and he is the worst I've ever heard. Only an American network would employ this muppet.

You take that back, Ray Hudson actually is the greatest.  I love his 15 minute soliloquys about Messi and his random ass similies and metaphors he uses.  I'll take him creaming his pants about Messi's 'silken chocolate' masterful runs over dull, drab commentators who rattle out overused cliches.

He's English and if he was any good he'd be on a British channel.

He makes Michael Owen look good and that's saying something.

Never heard of him, so can't comment, but agrees with what HTH is saying, any good and he'd be working for Sky etc
