What a man, what loyalty to L.F.C. and best of all what a footballer. Some of todays mega stare could certainly learn a thing or two from the GREAT BILLY LIDDELL

I saw the late great Billy Liddell so many times from when my Dad took me to Anfield for the first time in 1947.Billy never let his head drop and I cannot recall any other player who put as much effort into a match as he did. What should be remembered as well is the 2nd world war took 6 years out of his football life.He was in the 1947 team that won the league, as well as playing for Scotland he played for a combined Great Britain team, I think he was picked twice for that team.

It's a pleasure to post these images of days gone bye, simpler days when a little club had the chance of winning the League.
Remember Forest coming up from the old 2nd Div and then dominating the 1st Div and actually winning the European Cup, twice.

Forest still the only club that have won the European Cup more times than their own domestic league.

R.P thank you for the tremendous effort and time you put in posting these pictures, I for one really appreciate them as they rekindle so many memories.
I certainly remember Brian Clough and Forest they were formidable opposition in those days.

R.P. in your collection of these pictures is there one of the original boys pen when it was in Kemlyn Road,it used to run from the halfway line back towards the Anfield Road end. It was moved to the back of the Kop in the late 1940s I think. I seem to recall there was a picture of it in the old Echo showing Stanley Mathews ,It was moved because the kids threw orange peel and apple cores at Stan Mathews, at least that was the reason given by the club at the time.
