Took his goal very nicely. Still, I prefer him to stay put in the box and not move out far wide.

Lucas Leiva for PM.

« Reply #751 on: April 20, 2010, 08:25:05 AM »

Ngog is one of those forwards who is best staying put in the box. When he tries to go out wide and take players on, he looks like a fish out of water. And his hold up play simply isn't good enough.

However when he's in the box working on sheer instinct, he looks a handy little finisher. Like tonight, no time to think, just turn and hit it. Bang, goal. That's what he's best at, and what he should stick to.

Quite right.

I put massive wraps on him being the next Inzaghi but I stick by it. If he gets stronger in the off season and just stays in the box, he could be a great little player.

Ngog's strength was his first touch and finishing, among others. But lately it's (touch) gone awry, hope he works hard on it.

well I like him. His hold up play needs to improve definitely and being able to link up with his teammates will come with time. I think theres a few goals in him before the end of the season.

Don't no if he has enough in his locker to carry us through the next few games. Personally I'd rather go down to a 4-4-2 and have babel and kuyt up top with maxi and benny on the wings.

Still think ngog is one for the future though and the lad is only going to get better.

Can finish. Can also miss sitters.  Definitely a work in progress but as poor as some of his appearances have been this season he has also had some decent performances.

Almost a goal every 2 games this season. He isn't Torres but then only one man is.

F**k me people are liking him to Rush and Inzaghi, I think if we get owners willing to splash the cash Ngog will probably be sent on loan next season. He has a long long way to go.

Agree with this. He can look quite dangerous in the box and even looks like he can take a man on when he's closer to goal. Out wide and when trying to hold up the ball up, he seems to just get out muscled slightly.

Definitely a work in progress.

2 words. Ian Rush.

You will all love him when he gets the winner in the Europa League final. Smiley

I don't think he's comparing him to Ian Rush, because Ngog is quite clearly a long way off Rushie. He's just pointing out Ian Rush wasn't the type of player to drop out wide and Ngog should be focusing on getting in the box.

YANK$ OUT!

« Reply #758 on: April 20, 2010, 01:20:36 PM »

Correct me if I am wrong but was it not half way through the season while Torres was out, Ngog who kept scoring the goals, I must of been dreaming because most people have forgotten how he was hyped to be the bright light out of this season and many positive article's, comments were written about him when he was scorring, funny how fans can turn on a player.

5 goals in 12 games in the league.

He's not ready for the first team in my opinion, but he did whack that goal in yesterday.

His shots are usually so timid!

great young'un - and we shouldn't forget that he really is young and will feel the weight of expectation more keenly than a more mature player.

I'd like to see him stay in the box more as well, but that would mean changing formation, and I think that 4231 has worked pretty well for the most part.

Like others have said - a work in progress. I just hope he continues to learn and grow as a player. If he does he could be a great option for us, but it's also true he has a fair old way to go yet.

Young player. Good basic ability. Learning from torres...overall everything is in his favour to evolve into a very good player.
All up to him and how rafa and the fans if he will push on.
Can't work out what exactly he is naturally excellent at and how good he could be.
Don't forget how much pressure he is under, being a young fella being in nando's shadow

He can definitely finish, being young we cant expect him to hardly play and then put away every chance he gets. 8 goals this season for him is brilliant seeing as he has been in and out of the team a lot which doesnt help a players confidence, maybe if rafa played 2 up top with him playing alongside torres we would see what a really good prospect he is for us.

The thing with players like him is he needs confidence, hopeflly that goal will see him go on a little run, which would be great timing. Keep playing him now, with Kuyt as his partner.

I was Surprised to see of so many people Who wants N'gog out of the Club.

Ngog is one of the BEST prospects in the league.

People must realise that everyone cant be a Rooney or Messi to be explosive right from their teenage years.

Give David some time.

In one or two years(if he stays injury free and develops properly) he will be a really exciting player to have.

For me he is one of the brightest prospects in the league and his potential is very evident....he is just a little too raw now.

One of the best prospects in the league is really stretching it with this lad. You'd find very little people outside Liverpool agreeing with you. I can't see the lad every been a first team regular.

Yeah, ok fair enough , the lads been thrown into the deep end too soon, but once youve been thrown in you have to learn to swim very quickly or you will find youre swimming against the tide and you will be worked out by the opposition, and thats what I think has happened, the truth is at this time we need much ,much better back up for Torres than Ngog , but maybe his time will come, given time.

I've not lost a single bit of faith in David. I said he'd be a very handy player in the future if we stick with him and I still think that. Yesterday showed that with two good finishes.

Keep up the good work lad.
