Found a Ginsters Sausage Roll in the fridge but it went out of date 8 days ago. Still be ok to eat or find something else?

Bearing in mind i ate a bowl of cornflakes which were 5 days out of date yesterday but was ok.

Why not try a completely new approach?

Put it in the airing cupboard and try to grow some pet mould.

Guy at work brought in a box of walkers specials 3 weeks out of date and claimed they were ''Ok'' to eat.

      True or False?

I don't know, i'm paranoid about best before dates, if it's one day out of date i wouldn't eat it so three weeks is a big no for me!

Eat 1. If it tastes fine, then it's fine for the time being.

I'd eat crisps, sweets, chocolate, biscuits just out of date as they probably have preservatives in,  but anything like chicken, meat, eggs etc, definitely not.

The amount of e numbers and preservatives our snack foods contain make them pretty much safe from anything!

Chocolate should be ok, it's meat and especially pork and Chicken that I'd give a wide berth to !
I'ts Use by dates that matter, not best before dates.
Best before dates are JUST a guideline and are advisory !
Use before dates are more serious exceeding them could/will be harmful !

      They'd be fine.

Gareth, that flake will have been fine too. Chocolate doesn't really go out of date, but manufacturers give it a date to retailers haveso dispose of it eventually and buy more of them. Otherwise they'd be making no money.

Listen guys and gals, My professional education was in all this microbiology stuff and I have to say you are all a big bunch of fannies.

A year old Flake is going to be fine to eat. Fair enough it may not taste as moist and crumbly as it was intended but it won't kill you.

I was watching Bear Grylls earlier today and he found a dead sheep, cut out its heart, and drank the blood out of it. Did he die? No.

There's probably more bacteria in a rare cooked steak than a 3 month out of date chicken in the fridge which you're going to cook beyond belief.

Stop being fannies and get back to our caveman roots!
