      Keirrison (Curitiba)
      Oct 30, 2008 11:18:15 pm
I saw in the Daily Mirror today that we have been offered the chance to sign 19 year old wonder kid Keirrison.

      Quote
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has been offered the chance to sign Brazilian wonderkid Keirrison.

The Curitiba striker, 19, tipped to be Brazil's next big name, is a free agent next summer and has already attracted interest from Valencia and Barcelona.

I have never heard of him but if he is being touted as Brazil's next big name then that must be a good thing, especially if Valencia and Barcelona are also interested.

He looks like a good player going by these youtube clips but we all know how deseptive they can be. :-\

      http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Ud6t6JSDQtg&feature=related

      http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=_5xOOBFWZ9A&feature=related

Appear to have quite a bit of pace about him too. I was impressed with his goal in the 1st clip the way he took it with the outside of his foot on 2mins 30secs. Also looks a very skillful player. He also ha an eye for goal with over 50 goals in just over 100 games. (not a bad record for 19 year old), he could be a great partner for Nando??

Without jumping the gun and over hyping him I think Rafa should sign him, he appears to have a flair about him (something we are lacking in our other Brazilians). Get him in January and under Rafa I think there is a chance he could become a key player.

Interesting to read that the forward has'nt been offered to the 2 La Liga teams.

If he's as good as they say he is and the Daily Mirror aren't talking sh*te (a very long shot I know), then if we can pick him up for free why not. If Barcelona or Valencia got hold of him and he became what he's being touted as, then we'd all be pretty pissed off.

The way Barca are going with their youngsters at the moment i would hate it if we missed out on him because they have made Messi into a contender for the worlds best player at such a young age and Bojan is also flying and he is just 17 and scoring champions league goals.
If Rafa thinks he can become a very good player then i dont see why he would'nt want to snap him up (especially with Keane not having started to repay his tag yet)

If we sign this young lad credit must go to RAFA for the way he is selling the club to these youngsters, you would have to go back a few years to compare when we had so many good players at all levels through to the 1st team squad.

He has 50 goals in 100 games, but almost all in the 2nd division. That said, that's still a great record for a young lad.

Curitiba are now in the first division.

Do we need another promising young striker? N'gog, Nemeth, Pacheco are all knocking on (or are supposed to be soon enough) the first team door. Still, for free you can't really say no. Might be worth a shot, though you don't want to over-hype the kid just yet.

Any source because I found this article on talkaloadofbull.com which was done yesterday saying he will be going for sure.

      Quote
Europe's big boys have been put on red alert after Brazilian prodigy Keirrison, and his club, revealed that he is ready to leave his homeland...

"My dream is to play and to triumph in Europe," Keirrison said on the Setanta Sports website. "I am working to achieve this goal every day."

The 19-year-old, who has been touted as one of the most promising young strikers in South America, came to prominence last year when he helped Coritiba win the Serie B title and earn promotion to Brazil's top flight.

'K9', as he is colloquially known, has scored over 50 goals in 100 games since being elevated to the senior squad at the Estadio Couto Pereira, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed across the Atlantic.

Barcelona and Liverpool have both been strongly linked with Keirrison, with Rafael Benitez reported to be particularly keen on the Dourados-born forward.

The Coritiba president, Jair Cirino dos Santos, admitted that there have been several enquiries into the Keirrison's availability and declared that the youngster's days in the Brasileiro are nearing an end.

"There is certainly interest from Europe, but the issue is not yet resolved," Dos Santos said. "Keirrison will not play in Brazil next season and that is for certain."

Most of Keirrison's contract is owned by Mais Sports, a third-party firm similar to the one who brought Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez to West Ham United in 2006.

A spokesperson for the company said: "K9 will be in Europe for the next season, but we need to study the offers to decide what is best," he said.

"The kid is prepared for the jump to Spain, England or Italy. It will not be a problem because he will be Brazil's number nine in two or three years."

It's a good kid. If we get him cheap, it's worth a shot. He does well with the Coritiba squad, which isn't among the greatest in brazil, so I guess he could make real good in Anfield.

      Quote
Coritiba striker, Keirrison, looks set for the Palestra Itália and Palmeiras.

The young forward had been linked with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid and was joint top scorer in this year’s Brasileiro.

Keirrison has a contract with Coritiba until April next year but there is a chance that Palmeiras will get their man early next season if they can strike a deal with the Couto Pereira outfit.

While the move was officially announced by Palmeiras, there remains some doubt over Keirrison’s final destination. Palmeiras are feeling the heat after underachieving in the league. Their partnership with Traffic is also under strain after the football management company refused to release funds to buy forward, Kléber, from Dynamo Kiev.

      Palmeiras: Keirrison staying

Palmeiras have rubbished reports striker Keirrison is set for a move to Liverpool.

The 20-year-old has been at the centre of speculation linking him with a 20million euro ($A39.69million) transfer to Anfield.
Keirrison has been touted as Brazil's newest talent and finished top scorer in the Campeonato Brasileiro last season when he was with Coritiba.
Palmeiras' director of football, Toninho Cecilio, insists the striker - who has scored eight goals in only six appearances for his new team - will stay with the Verdao for the foreseeable future.
"I don't want to spend a lot of time talking about this Liverpool issue as it is not true," he said.
"There is nothing official and we were not consulted about this.
"We have an excellent relationship with Liverpool, who signed goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri, and, if there was something, we will be the first to know about that.
"Instead, the intention of the Palmeiras board is to keep him here as long as possible here, before he continues his career in Europe," Cecilio added.

The owners of Coritiba are the owners of Palmeiras or something like that. I dont like the way they run footbal and deal with transfer there. Anyway, they said they want him to play a higher level of football before moving to Europe for his own sake. I'm sure he can decide what is best for himself.

I would love to see him here but doubt it very very highly, especially for that price.

If we match a bid by Barca or Real, any South-American kid is going to be more willing to go there. They are far more glamorous than us. So if they're in for him aswell, I highly doubt he'll end up at Anfield.

If we match a bid by Barca or Real, any South-American kid is going to be more willing to go there. They are far more glamorous than us. So if they're in for him aswell, I highly doubt he'll end up at Anfield.

I've to disagree with you on this. PL is the most watched league in the world and they have series of die hard supporters around the world...even everton have a junk supporter base here in malaysia...never heard of sevilla or even valencia fan club here...being glamorous doesn't mean that they are the best league in the world. that we have to look at the recent records, though they won the euro, but in the club level where are they? only barca still in the fray, likewise real madrid, sevilla all have been eliminated. the english clubs have been dominating the european level nowadays. just forget the italian and the german leagues, we'll see english everywhere. if you say glamour then PL offers more than la liga.

But South American youngsters are more inclined to go somewhere where the weather is nicer, and the game isn't as physical, more like their own domestic league.  They aren't going to want to come to the premier league to get shunted off the ball constantly, and then get booed by his own fans for being too lightweight (sound familiar?).

And I'm fairly certain if you ask any Spanish or South American kids where they want to play, the club most will say is Real Madrid. Just like alot of English kids will say the scum. (or any other of the top 4)

yeah maybe so, i can see lots of these wonderkids ended up in spanish league where there are no language barrier. for me this is the main reason being unable to speak fluent or can't speak english at all dampens their desire to be in PL. but if we can provide them with the atmosphere and surroundings that they can adapt well, there is no reason they can't come and play here...it's all state of mind.

      Fair do's then.

Keirrison is Brazilian anyway, so i dont see why he'd have priority.

Keirrison reminds me a lot of Torres.

      In what way?

From what i have seen of Keirrison he is a totally different player to Torres, more skill and the things you associate with the Brazilians.

Also Nando is good in the air where as Keirrison isn't and Keirrison's pace is no where near that of Torres'.

I have seen Keirrison a number of times, he is a great finish in the box, that is his best attribute but he needs to work on holding up the balls, passing of the ball and movement within build up play all needs to improved to take it to the next level.

Here is a scout report from SSN, gives you some more info on the player.

"Youngest ever played to finish top-scorer in Brazilian top-flight"

"Keirrison is a proven goalscorer, who will only get better - and scouts of Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan and Liverpool are not issuing glowing reports back to their bosses for no reason."

"Could easily move in the summer, although would benefit from another year in South America. An outside bet to make Brazil's World Cup squad next year."

The lad has been in terrible form recently, after the great start of the season, but he is really young and a very good finisher. Like Adam said, he needs to get better in other aspects of the game, be more involved in the plays not only to finish, but he probably has a bright future ahead of him.

All the press in Brazil is saying he is going to Barça for 15 million euros... some sources say they will loan him to Valencia as part of a deal for Villa.

       Barcelona To Sign Keirrison
Barcelona have announced an agreement to sign Brazilian striker Keirrison in a deal worth £12m subject to a medical this Friday. This news will disappoint Rafa Benitez who had been tracking the youngster for some time and failed with a move in the January transfer window. The deal with the European champions could rise to £14m depending on first team appearances.

Rafa Benitez made a late failed January deadline day move for young Brazilian striker known as Keirrison de Souza Carneiro or just plain Keirrison for short. He was seen as a direct replacement for Tottenham bound Robbie Keane but the move failed to come off and were Liverpool hoping to wrap up a deal this summer. However, it would seem that Rafa is set to miss out on another transfer target as Barcelona look set to sign the talented marksman.

Keirrison told Sport.es, “I’m really happy to be joining Barcelona.”

“I’d be happy going out on loan as it would help me get to know European football better.

“I have no problems with this. I accept that there’s room for me to improve on my arrival.

“I know I have the level to succeed in Barcelona.”
