Using your PS3 to browse the Internet?!
      Nov 18, 2008 08:50:25 am
I'm seriously considering it.  Seeing I don't have access to a Computer where I am, I think it would be a much cheaper option to using the internet?

Anyone using/used it?  I need some opinions stat!  ;)

It works yeah.  Plug in a mouse if you want, and plug in a keyboard (seen a set in Asda for £8).  Off you go.

Some flash stuff doesn't work as of yet, but you can get the BBC iPlayer, the forum works fine on it, it's surprisingly good actually.

I'm sure in time, PS3 will introduce a program so we can download applications, such as Skype.  ;)

I need to ask though, can I download music straight to my PS3 Hard Drive from a website?

Depends what type of download. If it's directly off the net then I'm sure it'd work as I've done the same with JPEG files off Google and Imageshack.

If it's in the MP3 file format it should work yes.

I think I'm gonna invest in one of these sooner or later. Going to be after Christmas though. Saving for the new macbook (£949 - but I get 20% through my college) and I've only got about £400 so far.

Oh aye!  Get a few of the night shifts in!!!  ;)

There's a program that I heard that you can download, it is called Yellow Dog Linux, which can basically turn your PS3 in to a PC.

I don't know the pro's and con's but it's something that I'm looking at doing.  The wiki link is here for that program http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Dog_Linux
