Javier Mascherano (Lazio)

Lazio are ready to move for Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano during the January transfer window.
 
The Rome-based club, who are in the Champions League, need more midfield strength and have targeted the new Argentina captain.

Italian sources claim Walter Tamer, Macherano's agent, has been sounded out about a possible move for Mascherano. Tamer has said that the midfielder could move to Italy later this season.

Macherano has not been a regular starter for Liverpool this season, manager Rafa Benitez preferring a central midfield partnership of Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso.
 
The Argentinian has been frustrated by his lack of playing time which Lazio hope to capitalise on.

Thats it im becoming a journalist what a handy job sit down and make things up for the craic

Yesterday it was talk of Skrtel leaving, today it's about Masch and tomorrow it will probably be Riera.

Masch wont leave and even if he wanted to I doubt Rafa would let him. But then again why would he even consider wanting to leave us for a 3rd rate Italian team who can't offer him European football every season.

Like Mascherano or even Skrtel for that matter, would ever leave us for rubbish teams!!

Would the journalist like to come up with a better reason for why Masch would ever consider leaving a Champions League club, joint top of the league with bags of potential for a under-performing, 5th placed, Europe-less Italian team? Maybe not..

No its true. His owners aren't the club, its an independant company much like the one through the Tevez saga. When Tevez is bought, the money will go to them as it did with Masch.

Mascherano belongs to Liverpool completely as when the £18.6m was paid to media sports investments and in particular to Kia Joorabchain it ended all his ties to that company, so if he does ever move on we will receive all of the transfer fee but as he isn't going anywhere for a long time it doesn't really matter anyway.

Every player in our squad must have been linked with a move away lately but its only to be expected I suppose when you are riding high at the top of the league, I mean you dont see the back page of the Echo proclaiming   'Madrids interest in Hibberd intensifies' do you?

Possibly one of the worst pieces of journalism I've ever seen. Shocking stuff. It never fails to amaze me how people can make stuff up and sell it. It just goes to show people can look at the team selection on the official website and make up a transfer rumour.
