Aurelio is not sh*t. He's far better than Dossena in every respect. He gets forward more, he defends well, he has a good left foot on him and gets some decent crosses in.

How about a real first choice left back? Aurelio is slightly inconsistent though he does shine through sometimes, and Dossena is a donkey. Spend 10million + on pure quality and it'll improve the team immensely, especially with how Benitez is getting the fullbacks to get forward more. Not exactly sure who though...

That is the issue, there isn't much out there that would improve the left side. The name people throw around is Bale and he isn't as good as Aurelio right now.

He's better than Dossena yes, he's not consistant, I would argue that he doesn't defend well, but he can go forward reasonably well.
I don't think he is Liverpool 1st XI standard, but the problem is that there is no-one else that I can think of that I'd prefer in there.
Maybe give Insua a shot a left back.

Ooo, your one of the people who see it that way. What about all the stars Canada took who were in the exact same situation? Canada wouldnt have had Inagi who was African and Lennox Lewis who was British. Both were roughly the same age i'm sure (apologies if they werent). De Guzman wont change Canada - he will improve them no doubt but most players would. Cant blame him, what would you have done? The country where you trained, learnt and grew in to the player and person you are and then say thanks but i'm going t oplay for another country. It must have been tough but he made the right choice to further his career and improve him as a player.

As for this topic, it could well turn into the 'Insua - short/long term fix or not thread'. Right now we should definately let him have a few games. In January though, Heinze might not be a bad shout. Been poor for Real but a change of scene may help him and on the cheap. Not only that but he will help Insua in his movement, positioning and tackling and being Argentinian will definately help. Savvy signing IMO.

I would sell Lucas and whatever I get for him would go on Jelly babies (Not Orange ones though).

I would sell Pennant, Lucas and possibly Babel and buy one decent winger who will get 10-15 goals a season and can win a game on there own.

I like the sound of getting Kevin Phillips and i don't even think he would cost 4 million. I think he would be a good player to stick on in games like the fulham and stoke games at home to finish those chances that keane has been wasting. He's a proper goal poacher which is what we need in those sort of games

So is Insua and won't cost us 15 million plus like Bale, because Spurs won't let him go cheap and especially with that theiving c**t Levy as chairman, the Berbatov and Keane deals prove that.
