The focus will turn to Shawcorss when Stoke come to Anfield in a week's time so I'm not surprised there isn't much about Turner just yet.

Rafa will have a quiet word with Pulis, see what's happening with Shawcorss and if he doesn't like what he hears he'll revert back to Turner by which time we may have decided we don't need either.

My major fear is we sign Turner then Agger/Skrtel will return to full fitness and Turner wouldn't even make the squad of 18 for games because lets face it he would be 4th choice. 8m is a lot of money to throw around on a player who would be lucky to play more than 15 games this season.

I Dont think turner is good enough to play for a club like us....... we already have carra, agger and skrtel who are good plus we have good youngsters like kelly, huth and ayala.... £12m for a HULL player

Hull boss Phil Brown lines up Sol Campbell in case Liverpool swoop for Michael Turner
Hull manager Phil Brown has opened talks with Sol Campbell. Brown has lined up a deal for the 34-year-old former England defender, who is a free agent, in case Liverpool improve their offer for £12m rated Michael Turner.

Brown said: ‘I’ve had a good conversation with Sol. If someone is willing to meet our valuation of Michael, I will need a centre half.’

I would too, saves us 12m on someone who will play 3 games a season.

I dont rate Sol at all, though.

I'd take Shawcross from Stoke or Taylor from Newcastle before I'd opt for Turner. Against Chelsea today, he made some good tackles but I saw nothing amazing. Good blocks, good tackles but nothing that says 'future England centre back' which I think we should be looking for. Plus Shawcross always has a goal in him from set pieces which I like to see from a centre back

I didn't think he was particularly good against Chelsea, so no. Not worth 12mil, especially to play 10games a season

I actually thought he was good against Chelsea, considering they were backs against the wall for the majority of the match... 12 million though I'd rather whistle dixie and look for a freebie or use the youngsters as 4 th choice. 12 million would be better spent else where IMO.

Had a horrendous game today, happy Rafa didn't fork out 12m out for him, he was dreadful today.

      Sunderland Secure Turner
Sunderland have secured the signing of Hull City defender Michael Turner for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old centre-back has agreed a four-year deal with the Black Cats and becomes the club's seventh signing of the summer.

Turner's future has been the subject of conjecture of late, with Liverpool linked with an interest.

But the stopper has now opted to join Steve Bruce's Sunderland, who have won two of their opening four games of the new Premier League season.

Turner joined Hull from Brentford in 2006 and made 129 league appearances for the Tigers.
