A decibel meter was set up inside every Premier League club on three separate occasions during the 2010/2011 season, with an average taken to give a table of the top flight's loudest supporters.

It's been very obvious for me.

One that actually stood out for me was when we played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. We were so loud and I was watching it on telly!

Probably also got the quietest fans on a Saturday against Wigan when the tourist brigades take over the stadium.

How do we always finish first on this? From what I hear on the tele, after YNWA it goes pretty quiet up until we score! Especially against the likes of Wigan/Bolton/Wolves.

No doubt in my mind when Anfield is bouncing its the loudest stadium in England. Also pretty sure on a bad day its one of the quietest grounds around as well. If we could produce consistent big atmosphere Anfield would be a fortress again.

People should not underestimate the impact of the crowd. I am certain that if every home game was bouncing for 90 minutes, even half the volume of what we heard against Chelsea in 2005 then the team would be unbeatable and would not lose points.

Must of recorded it on the annual battering of the Mancs at Anfield!!!

It's pretty much silence for the games against lower teams.

Loudest in more ways than one as g&h found out - we are the noise that doesn't go away.

In these sort of discussions,views are relevent to the era.Today's volumes are insignificant to the previous 70/80's eras.We didn't have cameras,we had passion,and f*cking loud voices,and a rolled up newspaper for a piss.

Lets be honest, consistently we probably aren't the loudest fans. They must have picked some of our 'better' games to set up the decibel meters.

Anfield can be f**king dire sometimes or amazing others. But in my experience we aren't the wall of sound we are made out to be by others.

When Anfield is rocking though it is undoubtedly the best in the world.

Same for all clubs we never stop signing when we're playing away but at anfield it can be pretty quiet apart from the kop. Away fans really pull all the stos out when they come to Anfield tho' well impressed with Stoke & Blackpool last season.
Everton Chelsea & Utd all started the games very vocal but it all went a bit subdued from them second half !
