Bar Management?

Have no idea where to post this, so move if need be mods, just thought here would be the area that would suit? 

Anyway, I'm looking to pursue my ambition of running my own bar. I need to to obviously get the training etc. and help out in a bar that I don't own/run myself first. My mum when she was around my age just approached a brewery about it and they trained her in and stuff and she was then sent out to a bar to assist in managing the place. I'm wondering do any of you guys know what places I could approach about this in Ireland, UK, or US?

Any help would be much appreciated. (If I ever set one up in Liverpool you'll all be entitled to a few drinks on the house, but there's a few too many bars there already )

I have a dream of if i ever have enough money and the time in the future to open my own sports bar - don't know much about it though, but i'll be watching this thread as well

My Dad has had his own Pubs & Hotels since I was a kid and even he had to do the course when it became law.

Oh I know about the licence mate but cheers. The whole plan is to get trained in etc and then move onto managing. I'm going to do all my experience here in Ireland for a year and move over to the UK. My mum did it with Grand Metropolitan Retail but can't seem to find them online, I found one site but it looked too posh for me.

Gonna start right at the bottom of the chain and then when I need the training etc. it'll be for the food side of things only hopefully.

First time I've had an idea of what I want to do. So gonna try get into this and eventually own/run my own bar(s).
