Del Piero is pretty damn good at them. His penalty the other night, vital but he stepped up cool as you like as put it away with ease.

If he had missed it though he would have been slaughtered by their fans like.

Jan Molby, could place them or power them and scored a hat-trick of penalties once against Coventry!

Is that right, i wonder if anyone else has ever scored a hattrick of penalties, i'm sure it's happened before but i can't remember, i have a feeling robbie fowler did it once, can anyone confirm if that's right?

Phil Neal have a look at his stats cant remember him missing one.

      Taken off Wikipedia again:-

Neal was a clinical penalty taker, a role he had taken on the previous season, although he did miss one in the hotbed of a Merseyside derby game against fierce rivals Everton. He took the penalties throughout the early part of his long Anfield career, the responsibility later passing to Terry McDermott, and this bumped his goal tally to 60 in total, an impressive haul for a defensive player.

Not bad at all. And of course he got he clincher for us in Rome 1977 against Borussia Monchengladbach for our 1st European Cup  ;D

Good- evening one and all the best penalty taker as to be Zico Neal. as Phi who only ever missed one pen for the reds, againest Brighton. The other penalty Phil missed was for England againest Wales, Jan was good but not in Phil's league...... We ave not had a right back as good as Phil Neal and will probably never will.   :scarf:

Actually now you mention Sheffield United, i think it he only scored 3 league goals that season, all of which were penalties, 1 away and 2 at home, so it wasn't a hat trick as such, but still does anyone know whether it's happened before, a hattrick of penalties in one match other than Jan Molby, i'm very interested to know

Thats a good point, doesnt say on Wikipedia if it was all in one match or not, just that it was 3 pens.

I think Jan might be standing alone on this.

For me it has to be Bob Paisley's first signing...............th e ever reliable Phil Neal, he very rarely missed.

1 in 4 isn't 'rarely' in my book.

What do you mean 1 miss every 4 pens? Dont think so mate, Phil neal was clinical and had a top rep as pen taker.

I think the last one was against Marseille last season but he scored the re-bound anyway. Could be wrong though :-\?

One of the best Ive ever seen was Souness' in the 84 Ecf in  Rome. Hell of a peno, hard and high, right in the angle of bar and post, very important one as wed missed first and scored second.

      Goodbye!  :)

Phil Neal actually missed 12 pens for the reds and took 5 more than Molby. Molby missed 3 out of 45.

So go think up some more bollocks to write about while some of us prepare to laugh or cringe. Again.

Against Arsenal at home a few seasons ago? When Garcia scored the winner. Weekday match, actually on Valentines Day.

      I'm guessing mind!
