Anelka out for 3 weeks

Nicolas Anelka has been withdrawn from the French squad, due to a toe injury which will keep him out for 3 weeks. On sky saying the French medical team have given their diagnosis, no confirmation from chelsea yet.

That means he'll be out when we play them in the ucl doesn't it?

Hopefully, Gerrard can use this opportunity to overhaul Anelka's goal tally and claim the Golden Boot. At the moment he is 2 behind Anelka (15).

They like to operate with Drogba CF and Anelka on the wing for the big games so this should deter them a bit hopefully in both their Premier League quest and perhaps more importantly our Champions League tie. Anelka out probably means Kalou or Malouda on the wing to take his place. Ooh. Frightening.

That's true but i think that happened because he hasn't had played in his preferred position or/and hasn't played as much as he would have liked.

Yep! Heard that today (23/3) from a Chelsea fan at school during a free period, where we usually talk about football in the 6th form common room, he said that Anelka is an above average player and that he has become worse since his transfer from Bolton last season. Personally I don't really agree with that statement.

Like we've heard this week, form is temporary - class is permanent! Anelka will score goals - no doubt, but youve got to let him play on the shoulders of the defence, not out wide. Hes got to feel like hes your No1 aswell or he tends to sulk. Chelsea dont seem to realise they're not doing themselves any good by putting Drogba ahead of him.
