Who will fill the vacant numbers from our current squad?

I'd give Kuyt 7, although it won't happen now because a lot of fans will have already gotten Kuyt - 18 on their tops.

He's earnt the right to wear the number 7 but as you say it say it wont happen. Might next summer though when we get a new home kit.

We at Liverpool have been spoilt with some magnificent number 7's in our illustrious history Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish, Peter Beardsley and Steve Macmanaman to name but a few.

IMO I would love to see Gerrard take on the roll of Number 7 as I think it can phase a lot of players and can become a burden of the history the are trying to fulfill something Gerrard would never suffer with.

If Gerrard was not to take on the shirt and we are not to sign any specific player for this shirt, I think Kuyt should be handed it as he has earned it through his industry and work rate and would be the ultimate accolade to how he has turned things around for him self within the club.

Been plenty of discussion on the number 7 shirt in here RedLFCBlood, so to avoid everyone having to repeat themselves I've merged the topics.

I think that Greek fellow  ( can't spell his name) was given 3 ...it was on Wikipedia ..but we'll wait until the club officially confirms but I think he'll 3 . Well 6 and 7 .....I'd like to give Kuyt 7 and Insua 6

Yeah agree...think Kuyt should be handed the No 7 shirt next summer.

6- kragrious (cant spell his name)
7- silva or villa
 
then i would have for the other empty numbers:
14- aqualini (but hes taken , so i would have instead van der vaart)
17- someone like nemeth or ngog

With Sahin being fu**ed off it leaves quite a few numbers from the traditional 1-11 spare again.

4, 6, 10 and possibly number 9 if Carroll is sold permanently.

My picks would be -

4 - Kelly.

6 - Skrtel

10 - Sterling

9 (if available) - Sturridge.

I'd keep Skrtel at 37, he's grown in to that number.

4 - Suso or Shelvey

6 - New CB

9 - Sturridge

10 - Sterling

I was surprised that Sturridge wasn't given the number 9 shirt also, it's pretty obvious Carroll won't be returning to us!

I'd definitely give Kelly 6, love him as a player and deserves regular first team football once he returns.

I think Sturridge would be better suited to number 10, don't think he's an out and out number 9 kinda player if that makes sense. When I think of 9 I think of God and Rushie, would rather we keep that vacant.

As for 4, maybe Lucas or Shelvey? Suso too attacking for that number, he's more of an 8, 11

4 - Shelvey

9 - New Signing
10 - Suso

Would love to see Kelly take 23 from Carra when he retires. Keep that legendary number running with another future great - although i think he'll be given the 6.

If Allen gets his sh*t together he'd be a good shout for the 4. Sterling maybe the 11 if Assaidi moves on.

Re Carroll I think the club did right mate, he still our player so it's good to see the club show respect to the player, because we are LFC
