LFC Reds - Our adopted teams
      Mar 26, 2009 07:05:35 pm
Thought it might be a good idea for us to gloryhunt a couple of sides as 'plastic fans' for the remainder of this season.

I'm sure each respective club will be thrilled to have all 10,000 of us reds on board.  :f_whistle:

Anyway, because we don't have time to get all democratic about this I recommend we support some teams currently placed second in their respective decisions.

So as a result, the forum will be keeping an eye on the following teams! Come on!

Football League 2 (Gillingham) - Sorry Rochdale, I know you're there on goal difference, but you're a bit too close to Manchester

Conference North (Southport) - Okay so they're not actually second, but if they win their two games in hand they will be. Plus they're local and Gerrard likes to go fighting drinking socialising around there.

Belgium (Standard Liege) - Decent side, gave us a cracking game earlier this season AND knocked the blueshite out the UEFA Cup. Come on Liege!

Denmark (Brondby) - Come on - only second on goal difference!

Wales (Llanelli) - Although it does look a bit hopeless.

Well it seems I have no choice. Come on Gillingham, Southport, Standard, Brondby and Llanelli!

So will this be like a results thread for those teams?

      Good idea anyway. :)

That's the spirit.  It's like being in China.

Come on as well to the aforementioned second place teams hunting down the shits in first place.

For this season I hope Hertha BSC become champions and 1. FC Union Berlin will promoted in the second division.

Update, seeing as it's just me interested.

Gillingham got beat 2-0 at home by Barnet.  They're currently 6th with Wycombe (4th) and Rochdale (5th) on 65 points - so a bit of a blow to automatic promotion. Exeter and Bury are in 2nd and 3rd place with 68 and 67 points.

Southport also got beat 2-0, away at Alfreton Town (we're jinxing these sides well aren't we!) and are 6 points behind 2nd place Gateshead, although they do have 3 games in hand.

Standard Liege and Anderlecht both play today (not against each other). Liege are 2 points behind Anderlecht.

Brondby also play today. League leaders Copenhagen won 3-0 yesterday, and are 3 points clear though have played a game more. Copenhagen's goal difference is currently 6 better than Brondby.

Finally in Wales Llanelli got a 1-0 away win on Friday, but league leaders Rhyl also won 1-0 at home. 5 points behind with a game in hand.

well, nice and fun though this idea is and all....but....i was born and raised in Swansea so i am afraid i am genetically coded to not be able to have any interest in Llanelli...worked there once...it is only sixteen miles from my parents' house but it is like a foreign country...so...if you don't mind, i'm afraid i'll have to abstain from providing support to this great enterprise...thanks for understanding... ;D
