I'm with Eem on this one, its to show a mark of respect. This will stay with the club, families and fans for ever, a change in avatar doesn't mean you've just been reminded of it.
What I'm saying Smiggs is I can change it come the 26th of November and it'll have the same effect to me. It's not like it has to be done now, the 96 will not be returning to this mortal earth so it should be rememered every single day not just the week leading up to the annervisarry.
Personally I think the club could do a whole lot more. Have a few games a season where all the money raised there goes to the families, it's not like they're gonna miss two/three games revenue. I think we as a forum could do things throughout the year, for example pick a week in the year (1-7 of November) and ask 7 users of the forum to post a little piece on how they feel. It could be as simple as a RIP to a poem to a 13 page essay. You know I just think changing an avatar at this moment is a nice gesture, I'm not saying it isn't, but I don't think it needs to be one of those things that has to be done (or brought to attention) at a certain time.
The media only remember the day in the week leading up to the annerversiarry, we as fans don't. We remember them 365 days a year, so we can do things to show our memories any time we want.
