I think you'll find that was Robbie Keane's transfer. ;)

This is bollocks ...Rafa will not pay 20mil for a player like Johnson ...I think Arby is good and he is not that good at going forward but he can improve ...we don't need to pay 20mil to improve a rb for going forward . The money should be used on a world class signing .

And also promote youth by bringing Darby in instead of buying Johnson .... after all Rafa clearly rates him and he got a contract extension .

I think Johnson would be a good addition to our squad, he is young and has looked solid for England when he has played for them lately, he is better going forward then Arbeloa.

I disagree Arbeloa is good at going forward.

I like Johnson but who would be first choice?  Him or a much-improved Arbeloa?

      I'd buy Johnson but only for a reasonable amount - say £10 - 12m

^10-12 sounds good to me, i really like G.Johnson, if you asked me, arby or johnson last season. i wud have chosen johnson in a heartbeat but arby has improved alot. so i am not sure anymore.

why not just put that sort of money towards a quality right winger i.e ribery or someone of that braket and bring on young stephen derby as cover!?im sure that would make more of a difference to our attacking ability from the right side than glen johnson would.

I have no problem with Darby there as cover for Arbeloa but does Rafa rate him?

I agree that Right Mid is a more pressing requirement at the moment.  Same goes for backup striker.

Definitely not worth 20 million I think 4 million is reasonable but would he get a game?

I swear I read somewhere it was £20 million combined for Johnson and Crouch, not just Johnson.

Crouch was not happy last time playing as a substitute striker so I can not see him wanting to come back either.

He is having a pretty good season with Portsmouth. He is probably at the same level as Arbeloa. But we do need cover in that position. Id pay 4 to 6 million for him. Good player.

I don't know why we are after this guy unless we're planning on selling Arbeloa or if Rafa thinks he is better than Arbeloa.
Last year I didn't rate Arbeloa but he's improve vastly and is now a very good player at Right Back, Darby can provide back up for him, we don't need Johnson. Put the money towards a quality Right Winger.

Johnson is a good player and has being a shining light for Portsmouth this season, he also become an England regular and he is still only 24. Would love to see him at Liverpool(someone said he is only worth 4 million where do you get that). I'd be happy to see Liverpool pay 9 or 10 million for him.

I don't rate him particularly and think Arbeloa is fine and Darby is an ok backup.

Watched the reserve match last night and Darby is a long way from playing first team football, this year we've had to play Skertel and Carragher right back, I think we need competition for this role. Arbeloa has improved a lot this season but i think Johnson would give us a bit extra going forward.

      I don't class 12 caps in 6 years a regular pal.

Last night confirms to me we should buy this lad, I think he is stronger and quicker than Arbeloa, I think if we had Johnson last night Ashvain wouldn't have scored 4.
