I've hesitated to post in this thread since the quarter-final against Chelsea, during which I made several comments about Drogba's antics, which disgusted me.
I didn't want to post anything out of sheer anger and frustration, but now the dust has settled, so to speak, the revolt I feel for this man has not changed. He is nothing less than a cheat, what he does goes 100% against the definition of the word "sport", in which the best man or team win in a fair contest in which everyone follows the same rules. What Drogba does is ungentlemanly, pure and simple.
I would hate to have such a player in my team. Perhaps too honest on my part I don't know, but I've always hated injustice in all it's forms. I was already cringing at Robbie Keane's frantic arm-flapping in his brief spell with us, it was embarrassing and not in the spirit of the game. Every player can appeal for a decision, but to constantly sit on one's backside screaming at the referee is little better than Drogba's antics.
The man is a shame to himself, and I have since wondered what his family and friends think when they see clear examples of his cheating replayed on the television. Would they be proud? I have difficulty in believing it.
I doubt Drogba has a problem when he looks in the mirror, I'm sure he has long since convinced himself that what he does is fine, but for me he will never be a great player, and he will never, ever have my respect.
