Jak Jones was the lowest ranked player coming into this tournament and he's made it to the semi finals with a 13-9 win over Judd Trump.

Trump was way below par throughout but take nothing away from Jones who held himself together and showed real quality at times - including a century to win the match. (got in after Trump potted the blue but caught the brown and went into the top pocket)

From 9-4 down to finish the session just two behind at 9-7 will give John Higgins a lot of confidence going into tonight's final session.

This afternoon will see Gilbert and Maguire wrap up to see who'll be the second qualifier into the last four. Currently 10-6 to Gilbert. While the battle of the two former champs, O'Sullivan and Bingham start their second session all square at four a piece before finishing up tonight.

Trump's appearance did not inspire confidence, he looked concerned and on edge from the word go, Jones on the other hand was a picture of confidence throughout.
Trump was missing  long shots that he is famous for putting away and his opponent to full advantage.

Aye mate, was poor from the get-go but managed to keep hold of Jones up until that final session. He was just making far too many mistakes at that point. An easy pink into bottom pocket, overcutting the yellow into the top pocket, going for pots that he couldn't actually get to the potting angle of. Just looked a shell of himself. Poor way to end what has been a great season for him.

But as I said earlier, take nothing away from Jones. He was boss in how he held himself together. As bad as Judd was, Jones still had to pot the balls himself and he did. If he can win the semi against either O'Sullivan or Bingham, he'll end the season in the top 16 which is F***ing remarkable for a fella who's done nothing all season until now. This was only his fourth ranking quarter final of his career, one of which was at last year's Worlds. Obviously has a liking for the Crucible. Test for him, regardless of how he does in this tournament from now on, is becoming a lot more consistent in all tournaments because that will open doors to all other possibilities.

Both matches have been shared two frames a piece at their mid-session intervals.

That means Gilbert leads Maguire 12-8 and needs just one frame for victory, while O'Sullivan and Bingham are still tied now at six each.

O'Sullivan and Bingham remain all tied up.

Eight a piece going into the final session tonight.

Ten all between O'Sullivan and Bingham as they head for the mid-session interval.

      Best of five now.

On the other side John Higgins got to within one of Kyren Wilson at 9-8 but hasn't potted a ball since as they go to their mid-sesson interval with The Warrior just one frame away from victory and a place in the semi-finals.

And Kyren Wilson becomes the third man into the semi finals with an impressive 13-8 win over Higgins.

Meanwhile Bingham is looking good to go two ahead with three to play against O'Sullivan.

And we have our fourth and final semi-finalist, it's Ballrun Stuart Bingham who has beaten tournament favourite Ronnie O'Sullivan 13-10.

Last four, only one seed there.

      Dave Gilbert v Kyren Wilson
      Jak Jones v Stuart Bingham

Not the semi final line up many predicted me included. Like to see Dave Gilbert win it.
