LFC Reds Player of the Season 2008/09

Thats class that seeing how the votings going,Stevie lads class and we all know that but when you do every game ,then see the papers give him man of the match most of the time and you no he ain't been cos you were there.Sorry people but thats how i see it.

for me, it was a tie between Alonso n Gerrard, with Kuyt, Benayoun, Torres and Reina following up

I think there have been a few candidates for player of the season including Mascherano, Kuyt and of course Xabi Alonso but Stevie has been maginificent. When he and torres are fit they truly are UNSTOPPABLE! Gerrard is my player of the year with Xabi coming a very close second.

Ah shut up, I'm the only one to vote for our most improved player this season?  come on lads (and ladettes) help me out here vote Fabio!

Voted for Stevie G, although I couldn't split him and Xabi. Voted for Stevie because he's been awesome time and time again

For me it has to be Kuyt, considering he was under fire in house and by other clubs fans i think he has really stepped up.
He has got forward all season, and scored more goals than he ever has in a red shirt and his persistance off of the ball is ruthless.

Close second for me is Alonso who seems to have taken onboard a more aggressive style giving himself greater opertunities to get his shot away (since he grew his chuck norris beard).

In third place its a toss up between Yossi who imbedded himself deeper into the team in the later stage of the season and Skrtel who seems to be getting better and better (who wouldnt alongside Carragher and learning from Sammy)

I want to point out, this thread is regarding the best player this season, and not who improved most. I disagree with notions that kuyt was the best. Xabi or gerrard is an answer. Yossi improved and delivered, but many others were better than him. We can still say carra, our defence is great (although we conceded many come to the end) it wasn't carra's fault.

I know its for the best player.
However due to his improvement and goals from a wide area Kuyt is up there. Raffa this season has said his name is usually first on the team sheet which is suprising as you might expect Gerrard (Or Reina ha ha).
Xabi isnt my answer and Gerrard has had more influential seasons so im sticking to my guns with this one SaintLiverpudlian

no doubt kuyt was good, but I don't think he was the the one affecting liverpool most. it's why we have a debate here.

Hyypia finishes 5th, and Yossi is on 4th.

Number 3 goes to Dirk 'Android' Kuyt.

I'm guessong Xabi and Stevie to nick 2nd and 1st respectively. Torres probably didn't play enough to get top 5.

Very good, must give a decent indication of what most Reds supporters think.

After the turmoil he went through following the on off transferr fiasco, with the nagging injuries of last season, when he was never really on top form, What a comeback this year. Has to be our most consistant player and his sublime passing dug us out of a few holes this year. His tackleing and overall play was much stronger as well. Vastly improved, probably his best season as a pro footballer this year. Top man and well deserved.

im very dissapointed not to see Degan up there, lad's been outstanding in the treatment room, was always there without fail, and kept the physio staff some wonderful company

for me it was a close one.. however i went with gerrard over alonso simply for his ability to win some games off his own boot so many times during the season. alonso was definatly the most consistent, and worthy of second best player in the lfc website poll. however, there is no doubt gerrard was the best. i cant say much more than just watch gerrards highlights from this season, justifies everything

Alonso and Gerrard far ahead, well deserved to be honest.

Compared to the rest Kuyt and Benayoun have got some votes too..
